Thinking Basketball just posted a great video about the "Giannis Offense" that I think is instructive for how Amen can be an effective primary ballhandler even if he can't shoot.
The whole thing is a marketing stunt for people trying to become more famous. Glad Amen didn’t contribute to that cause
Everything he posts is just anti team. "I coached a bunch of middle schoolers and they were undefeated" Coach dumb, me better. GM dumb, me better. We are 2nd in the west and we are stacked with young people and a star level prospect (at least one, maybe a few). Christ.
The dunk near the beginning where he manages to hang in the air and somehow twist around Missi, who is a legit 7 foot shotblocker, and still dunk it, is an insane display of his athleticism and body control. Amen just does things I've never seen before on a basketball court. Can't believe anybody doubted that we should draft this dude #4!!!
The cool thing about him poking that ball away is how he could have got to the ball handler sooner but he kind of held back and timed his final burst for right when the player was pulling the ball up for the gather. It's not just the raw athleticism - it's the intelligence of understanding the best time to strike.
LOVE that Amen goes super easy on his in-game dunks (except vs the Heat recently). Should bode well for his longevity
