Crazy how a 17 year old just happened to have a knife on him and decided to shank someone to death over a disagreement. I'm sure he'll be out in a few years & ready to do it again.
First I want to say this is tragic that this kid lost his life over something so foolish. Prayers for his family and friends while they undertake the impossible task and find the strength to cope with this. That said... What disease is it that makes someone turn everything political? How is this different than George Zimmerman/ Trayvon Martin if the reports are true that the deceased started the physical altercation? There's even witness statements saying that the young man who was killed was told by the victim to not touch him. I'm not sure he had any legal grounds to try to physically remove him even though this apparently happened in his school's tent at the track meet. There definitely was no need to escalate to stabbing him in the chest though...That's unhinged behavior...But I thought Zimmerman was unhinged also but legally he got to skate.
I don't get it either. It has nothing to do with party affiliation. To assume Democrats approve of murdering someone is a very biased opinion. I'm not even sure why that comment was made, unless it was because someone thinks Democrats don't care about murders if the murderer is black and the victim is white. Only racists think that way, and Democrats aren't any more racist than Republicans. Murderers, rapists, pedophiles, abusers and criminals should all be held to the rules of the law when prosecuted. Skin color, religious preference, sexual preference, political preference, social status, and income should not change the way offenders are prosecuted. That's my opinion, and there are plenty of people on both sides of the political spectrum that believe in that.
A good lawyer may help him beat the murder charge. The harder charge to beat has to do with having/using a knife at a school event. At the very least he will be a felon before finishing high school.
Be very careful about where you choose to live and what settings you put yourself in. Very careful. Track meets are high risk locations.
It must be absolutely agonizing to live life and have everything you see be political. Probably particularly awful for his friends and family, provided OP has any. Woof. Let the trial happen and sort it out. Sucks for everyone involved.
Something tells me the Zimmerman and SYG crowd are gonna be awful silent on this one if it turns out Metcalf was the aggressor.
Statistically you have a very high concentration of the highest crime risk age/demographics present at a track meet. Ever been in Austin during Texas Relays? Downtown turns chaotic and unsafe, especially for young women. Austin residents make plans to leave town once that event is put on the calendar.
