The Rs are going to have a hard time selling a tax cut to the top 1%, if the country is in recession and the stock market is in the sh*tter.

The Rs might regret not locking in the tax cuts before raising tariffs. This strategy worked in 2016. But Trump is so f*cking bad at being in charge, he managed to screw this up. I will be living on the top 1% tears the next 4 years, if the tax cuts get blocked by Trump's tariff follies.

I hate being optimistic but I am hoping that the destruction of trillions of dollars of wealth that the MAGA dipshits are causng means something??? happens & l we go back to seeing some version of actual adults in the WH just refusing to implement the worst and most insane orders like "Liberation" of your wealth day

I hope you are right, but I don't necessarily share in the optimism. Two things seem evident for what the MAGA base now stands for:

    -Pure fantasy
-Hurting other people to feel self empowerment

Most people on the right will spin the narrative they want to believe and FoxNews/right wing propaganda will give them what they need to convince themselves the pain they feel that is obviously inflicted by Trump's incompetence & corruption is serving some greater purpose and.... the my second point... is necessary to inflict pain other people they blame for their lives not being perfect.

On the margins yes.... Trump will get some slippage that would likely lead to his losing a free, and fair democratic election so there's that. However I'm also fairly pessimistic that he's leaving willingly in 2028 anyways. Would love to be wrong about that, but I think we are in this Trump nightmare until he dies, and when he dies we still have to see what type of world shakes out of that.

Most importantly in the short term... Pro-Democracy parties here and abroad must DOMINATE elections to amass as much political and governing power as possible to thwart what Trump, Putin, Kim Jung, etc. what to get accomplished in the next few years to reshape the world. I hate that every damn election here in the US is the "most important election of our time" but this one truly is.... yet again.

If people like Dan Patrick, and Greg Abbott are the ones we are trusting protect Democracy from a dictatorship takeover then we are truly fcked. These type of MAGA Republicans cannot be trusted, and regardless if you are a lefty or just a conservative who wants to NOT live in a dictatorship... you have to come together, and vote for the candidates who will actually uphold Democracy.

I just don’t get any of this. On one hand you want to cut the corporate tax rate and on the other hand implement tariffs that will be funded by those same companies.

If you want manufacturing back there are better ways to go about it like subsidies then destroying the global economy.

Partially funded by those companies. Mostly funded by consumers.

Agreed it would get passed down. But conservatives always argue that raising taxes gets passed down as higher prices as well. So how can you say tariffs good, raising taxes bad when it amounts to the same??

He wants to pick winners and losers. Every single manufacturing giant in the US will be calling Trump to kiss the ring in order to get a carve out for tariffs. So the ones who bow to the King won't feel direct pain, they'll get an excuse to "right size" their business, and they'll get a fat corporate bonus to their C-suite, and shareholders.

Yes those same manufacturers will feel some indirect pain from the overall economy going in the sh$tter, but you have to understand how monopolized the manufacturing world has become here in the US which helps those companies withstand that level of pain. It's getting way worse too. Just the other day, one of my largest clients who distributes manufactured roofing materials across North America was taken over in a hostile buyout by guess who.... Jared Kushner and a couple other billionaires who are trying to consolidate, and monopolize basically the entire supply chain for building basically any structure in North America.

How much you want to bet that the 2 billion dollars Jared Kushner got from the Saudis due to Trump's corruption was used to buy enough shares to be a board member of QXO, and lead this hostile takeover that could monopolize a good chunk of the building materials industry distribution?? Which affects us all if you are looking to buy a house, or put a new roof over your head anytime soon.

What if the other countries get rid of their trade barriers to lower the tariff but their public boycotts US goods? Is Trump going to bully them into buying American goods? Since their public is buying local and boycotting, Trump puts the tariff back up. lol. Canadian travel to the US is down 70%. Is Trump going to bully them back?

This wasn't about trade barriers but imbalances. We are mad that we import clothes from Bangladesh but those same Bangladeshis are not in turn importing Teslas from us.

    Imagine that...
