Who said that these people shouldn't be deported or jailed? ICE existed before President Trump, and it was actively looking for and finding violent criminals that were illegally in the country and deporting them or having them serve prison sentences and then deporting them. IS she going to read off all the women and children and people that have lived in the US for years and have no violent criminal backgrounds that have been deported? Is she going to discuss the ICE officers waiting outside elementary and middle schools for students to leave school and to be deported? Is she going to comment on why strawberries are $6 a pint instead of $2 because no one wants to pick them? Will she comment on lower income Americans and middle class Americans seeing the price of their groceries increase by 20-25% because there is a lack of workers wanting to do the jobs? It is really easy - to advertise and brag about scumbag criminals that are going to be deported, that were already being targeted by ICE under previous administrations. It is easy to send Noel to El Salvador to show murderers that were already wanted. Let me know when they start talking about the many other people that are being deported and now are somewhere they have not been in years, and sometimes since they were children. Also - don't tell me they should have wanted to be citizens, because there was an effort to pass legislation to allow nonviolent and contributing aliens to get citizenship and Trump killed it.
There's nothing wrong or immoral about deporting people who are in this country illegally. Every country in the world does this everyday. If I wish up on the shore of NZ tomorrow and say, "I like it here, I think I'll stay forever" - They'll tell me no and to get the **** out. They aren't wrong or immoral for doing so. Neither is the United States when it does it.
Yes - there is nothing immoral about deporting people who are in this country illegally ....... yet all MAGA does is show handfuls of child molesters and murderers, as if that is the typical illegal immigrant. I will believe that they are not concerned about the ethical appearances when they accurately provide a picture of most of the people they are deporting.... which are women and children and others with no violent backgrounds. So - they can claim to be ethical when they accurately discuss what they are doing.... but they haven't done that, and they won't do that.
Obama deported more people than any other President ever right? Did he lead with images of crying women and children? Doubt it. Everyone spins and presents the image they would like.
When Obama deported people did he have cabinet members going on raids and hold press conferences where he insinuated all of the people being deported are violent criminals or sex offenders? I had issues with Obama over Fast and Furious, but he did not have National Enquirer like press conferences where he spewed propaganda like this administration is.
So that's your b****? That the Administration or its supporters put the most pleasant spin on things and curate the image of events to their benefit? Everyone does that. Do is see pro-choice people publishing images of the aftermath of an abortion? They won't even use the word "abortion" because it's so ugly. They carefully select phrases like "reproductive freedom" or "women's rights" or whatever the hell phrase they want to use to not say its killing a fetus. Spare me the sanctimony about people being manipulative with how phrase things/how they spin things/what information is highlighted vs what information is omitted. That is a universal consideration.
People will learn the hard way that if non-citizens don't have due process that means citizens don't have it either. You can't separate the two classes. Because due process is what allows protection from the government saying "you aren't a citizen" when you are. So again, if non citizens don't have due process, citizens don't either.
One funny new advancement in political discourse over the past few years is right wingers no longer label themselves as "constitutionalists". Good mask off moment.
Legal processes have been suspended many times throughout the history of this country. People like you will whine and complain but I'll give the situation more thoughtful consideration. If it was up to you El Salvador would be still be having the 4000 murders a year it was experiencing in 2017 as opposed to the 80 murders a year it is now. That's a fact.
Honestly I'm near the point where I just feel like giving up doing these political debates with random right wing strangers. Like where do I even start with a reply like this? It's so detached from reality I just don't know where to begin and then there is the part in the back of my mind thinking if I'm even debating a human with good faith sincere thoughts on the other end. Just so many reasons why I feel this is such a hopeless endeavor. Okay man ya, let's suspend due process and call anything we don't like a foreign invasion and declare war Willy nilly. I agree dude. Without suspending due process so many more white suburban women in sundresses are going to get raped. America is cooked.
