The killed me the year they picked Travis Johnson when Derrick Johnson was just sitting there waiting for them....

Trying to speak this into existence:

1.25+3.89 to Las Vegas for 2.37+3.68+4.108

2.37 - Donovan Jackson OG, Ohio State
2.58 - Alfred Collins DT, Texas
3.68 - Mason Taylor, TE LSU
3.79 - Tate Ratledge OG, Georgia
    4.108 - D'Onte Thornton WR, Tennessee
5.166 - Jaydon Blue RB, Texas
7th: best height, weight, speed guys for special teams

Yep, that was an all-time miss on Travis vs Derrick, the latter having a great career with KC.

The interior OL for the Longhorns last year seem to be slipping under the radar. Most of the mock simulators don't even have Hayden Conner listed and I feel he is an early Day 3 pick or even a late Day 2 guy. May simply be a simple factor of the position not being valued, but I would take Conner, Majors, and Drew Kendall of BC well ahead of many of the later round guys listed in all of these mocks. Cerebral football players that you can trust to pickup protections in the passing game, but don't road grade in the run game.

    25. Houston Texans: Donovan Jackson, G, Ohio State

Houston would continue its offensive upheaval with the addition of Jackson, who just cracks my top 20 prospects. He was a stalwart for multiple seasons at guard for Ohio State before kicking out to left tackle in October when Josh Simmons went down with a knee injury. Jackson immediately became comfortable in the position and was outstanding throughout the Buckeyes' national championship run. His best spot is still at guard, but he has invaluable positional flex to go along with power and toughness.

    58. Houston Texans: Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State

Williams would bring juice to Houston's offense, considering he finished his college career on a TD heater, scoring nine over his final six games. Tank Dell's status for 2025 is uncertain (knee), Stefon Diggs is off to New England and newly acquired Christian Kirk is under contract for just one season.

    25. Houston Texans: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

With Laremy Tunsil off to Washington, Houston needs help at tackle. There are a couple of intriguing options here. Ohio State’s Josh Simmons is exceptionally athletic but still a bit raw, whereas Banks is more seasoned. The 6-5, 315-pound Banks won the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy in 2024 after starting 15 games at left tackle.

Despite winning some individual hardware, Banks had his share of struggles in 2024. Sources at Texas said he was dealing with an ankle injury that he was playing through. UT folks speak highly of Banks’ competitive maturity, which impressed them early in his career when he was matched against Alabama’s Will Anderson and Dallas Turner and more than held his own. They love his ability to recapture his balance when he gets knocked off his center and can stay connected to the defender, displaying uncanny body control and core strength.

“I think he’s more of a right tackle, but he has good feet and can anchor,” an SEC D-line coach said. “He’s a better run blocker than pass protector.”

“I’m not as high on him as I think everybody else is,” a Power 4 defensive line coach said. “He is skilled, but I didn’t think he was great in space.”

I would be very happy with Yates mock. Two of my favorite players for the Texans in this draft.

I hope the NY Times mock is right, but I dont think there's any chance Banks falls to 1-25. If he starts to fall some team will trade ahead of 1-25 and pick Banks.

Would love to get Henderson with one of our 3rds. Kid is a playmaker and takes his craft seriously--SWARM to the core.

OSU pedigree, he would be a great compliment to Mixon.

I agree that Bond was WR1 pre-injury and was looking to have a really good season. But Golden stepped up big time and never looked back. Not sure how that is a knock on him.

Not to mention they had the same number of receptions and TDs the first 5 games of the season before Bond got injured or the fact that Bond suddenly forgot how to run routes and catch when he got back.

I always watch the full draft like I have no life. After these first 3 picks, I’d stop watching. I don’t think I’d be able to hold my excitement.
