The foul was the boneheaded play not the layup attempt

Nuggets loss gives Rockets some breathing room for the #2 seed.

West just feasting on themselves. 2 to 8 fighting for a matchup with OKC

Worked out perfectly for the Rockets. Denver is now 2 games back again and they played in double OT with another game tomorrow night(albeit against the Spurs). Jokic is gonna be exhausted tomorrow after playing 53 minutes tonight.

No, you're right. There's just a bunch of Jokic superfans around here that are more interested in his success than what's best for the rockets.

Nothing to do with Jokic. Just don't want to have the Lakers on our side of the bracket. I'd much prefer facing the Nuggets than the Lakers or Warriors in the second round.

You would think that a 36 yr old Westbrook couldn't jump that far on the closeout.

Uhm why would we root for Spurs to lose? They can theoretically still jump the Suns + lower seed is more chance at a high pick.

Westbrook singlehandedly ruining Jokic night is something else. I would’ve been irate if I were Jokic. But this is definitely a great night results wise. If we keep 2nd, which we should be able to, then a Clippers / Wolves / Grizzlies is most preferable. Let the Warriors keep winning just enough, but also Lakers and Nuggets for most nights. This loss was perfect.

It was a decent decision by WB, but the real issue was Braun putting him in that position. Braun should have focused on running the clock down instead. He's a solid free throw shooter, and since either choice was likely to give the Timberwolves a chance to tie or win, running the clock out should have been the top priority, with securing the extra two points as secondary.

    GLAD it happened!

Braun fed WB for an uncontested layup. He was not at fault for that. WB blew the game by missing it because that set up the series of events where WB showed how smart he was. My wild guess is he felt bad for missing and tried to make up for it.

Not at fault, just decision could have been better. He's a better free throw shooter. I thought he should have kept the ball and try to run the time out, but glad he didn't :).

He made the better decision to take the gimme two points instead of risking anyone (including himself) shooting FTs.

    But Russ...

As we saw, there is risk in attempting the layup. There is also risk in making a bad pass. There is also risk in free throws, of course, but at the time, with about 10 seconds left, I believe the best decision was to try to run out the clock.
