I like Williams out of Ohio State and Collins. I think they will be good players. If you look at what the Texans interior defense and 49ers interior defense was, your looking at players that fit the Deforest Buckner and Arik Armstead mold. Athletic interior lineman with speed that can get after the QB. At pick 25 and 58 there are going to be other DT available that fit that scheme better. I would be all in on Alexander, Grant, and Sanders because they are that mold. Nolen actually fits the mold too, but there's something going on with character concerns. I don't know if there are or not, but I have heard several draft analysts hint that there is some concerns.
What you really said, this is a really deep DT draft. Particularly the 1 techs, Caserio can pretty much finish out a dominant defense by adding a guy like Collins, Williams/Nolen at 2-58. Personally, I hope Caserio goes my guys at TE/OG/WR with his 1st three picks and draft Jordan Phillips 1 tech Maryland (Explosive Athlete) at 3-89. If Caserio's really a gambler the Deone Walker could be the missing piece to the defense. As could Shemar Turner. Bottom line for me is I would give up future picks and 3-79 to end up with these 4 players on the Texans next year. 1. Loveland, Taylor 2. Kyle Williams 3. Tate Ratlege 4. Collins I'm betting Caserio can get one of the 1 techs I listed above at 3-89. Heck supposedly Collins f has fallen to rd 3 because he was in a walking boot at his pro day. Alexander is lowly ranked and I think that guys a stud. (Okam was his DL coach in college) Man, I would be so happy with a draft like I listed above
Totally agree with @raining threes: with WAJ and the secondary Caserio already has there adding a stout IDL would seem like a force multiplier. More 3rd and longs mean more sacks, rushed throws and turnovers. Thats why I suggested adding them Texas boys (Collins and Broughton) earlier. Winners and local to boot. That mock would set us up.
I'm not the expert on all the details of how the Texans scheme, but the Texans seem to really prefer smaller 1 gap penetrating linemen over the 2 gap stand-up-the-o-lineman-and-read-the-line-of-scrimmage types. I honestly don't think they'd find much use for a big ol' 360-lb mountain of a DL. Those guys don't play with the quickness and penetration that the Texans scheme for. I just don't see those types of guy giving the coaches what they want in order to get on the field for the Texans except in goal line and 4th-and-1 type situations.
I'll give you an alternative draft than most here. 1. Darius Alexander DT Toledo, probably could trade down for a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th 2. Kyle Williams WR Washington St. 3. Tate Ratlege OG Georgia 3. Jacob Parrish CB Kansas St 4. Thomas Fidone TE Nebraska 5. Best 3rd down RB available
1. Kenneth Grant - DT 2. Jonah Savaiianaea - G/T 3. Jaylin Noel - WR 3b. Wyatt Milum - G/T 5. Brashard Smith - RB 7. Jack Nelson - T 7b. O’Donnell Fortune - CB https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/user-mock-drafts/2025/user-mock-8081275 I think DeMeco sees the highlight of Grant chasing down the Penn State running back from behind and can’t resist the swarm. Then Nick spends the rest of the draft getting Olinemen and weapons for the offense.
Another Morning headscratcheer. Why are these guys available? 25.Tyler Booker OG Alabama 58.Aireontae Ersery OT Minnesota 79.Kyle Williams WR Washington State 89.Omarr Norman-Lott DT Tennessee 166.Jaydon Blue RB Texas 236.Jalin Conyers TE Texas Tech 241.Jalen Travis OT Iowa State
The ESPN Draft Analytics Simulator is by far the best draft simulator. It has the best rankings of players and where they will go. https://espnanalytics.com/draft-sim/
As much as we would like our fellow Longhorns in Texans gear, I've come to realize it ain't happening.. lol .. I gave up that hope last year .
