The more removed from Luhnow this team gets, the further the regression. Jose was trending to be a notch below below-average at 2B this season, and Yordan needs to mostly DH. Altuve needs to hit (LF) and so does Rodgers (2B).
Besides the fact Yordan isn’t great out there either they’ve already made clear as an organization they don’t want Yordan risking injury. But yes an ideal world Altuve would be DHing half the games and then “hiding” in LF on the days Framber and Hunter start since they are GB/K heavy pitchers.
He was a bottom 5 defensive 2B by metrics that actually matter. Fielding % means nothing when you don’t get to balls other 2B are getting.
Yes, he led the league in fielding % last year I believe, as well as double plays turned. He is still quick & fast. His defensive decline at 2B is greatly exaggerated.
