What will it take to make you seriously consider an EV?

Telo Trucks showed off their prototype MT1 to a few journalists a few days ago. The concept of an extremely tiny small truck with a midgate is extremely interesting. The truck is only 152" long with 4 seats and a 5 foot bed. With the midgate open, backseat folded down, and front seat moved forward, it can fit a 4x8 sheet.

There are two battery options: 77kwh for 260mi range and 106 kwh with 350mi range. Price ranges from $41.5k to $50k. Expected delivery in 2026.

I am intrigued and hope they do well. Though it's a tough environment to be an EV startup right now and they will use contract manufacturing rather than doing it in-house. So I doubt price will ever be really as low as people might hope. So you really have to want a tiny truck rather a 'cheap' truck.

At this point, I would even consider it a personal safety risk to even drive one. You never know some crazy will do something to you.

That quite literally looks like an "up-armored" Kawasaki Mule type thing

Haha yea. I personally think Telo made it too small for wide acceptance.

The longest Kawasaki mule with 4 seats is 140". The Telo is 152". The Honda FIt is 162". So the Telo is pretty much right in the middle in length between a Mule and the Honda Fit.

I wish it was closer to 180" (Rav4 sized). That's a size that's supremely useful and can still fit inside most garages.

I was intrigued by the Telo, until I saw the price tag.

For me to even consider it (and I would), the base model would need to be like 25k.

Rinse, repeat. Same old stories with EVs. Nothing has changed in as long as this thread has been active.

    Hybrids are the way.

Intrigued too. I like the futuristic Total Recall look of it with the camper shell. Who knows, $41k might feel like $25k in a year.

Headlights are absolutely horrific. Go drive around on the Moon, Copernicus.

That BYD $30k price point and 5 minute charge time would make me seriously consider it. if only we had choices like that....

We could. If we started rolling back massive regulations across the board. Im not sure if I would agree with that solution at this time thought.

    It is not a hoax.

The pardon of Trevor Milton is an abomination. He paid the toll and bought his way out. What's also tragic is this $1.8 million investment last year could wipe out ~$700 million in restitution he's been ordered to pay. What a return!

For seemingly no reason, Elizabeth Holmes has been on a media campaign trying to draw sympathy. Maybe she's up next.

    Sam Bankman-Fried anyone?

I guess the definition of fraud is determined by your connections to a certain political figure.

No, it's affected by the amount of bribery. I mean "donations".

White collar crime was already incredibly hard to prosecute and convict. So hard the government playbook is to get a settlement.

    Gather round youngins...crime does pay.
