    You don't?

How many "FS on the C" did we see last season?

It's never called on the center. It's called on the rest of his teammates. But I did hear what I think was an illegal procedure penalty for early movement by the center which is not permitted pre-snap which is the equivalent.

Of course it is. When the C bobs his head or moves the ball in any way before the snap, it's a False Start on the Center, doesn't matter what the rest of the OL does, it makes the DL go crazy

But isn't it usually called something like an Illegal Procedure rather than a false start? I'd prefer it to be consistent as a false start, but football has some weird rules.

I think blaming Tunsil’s FS on the center is BS. Tunsil’s grades as an A1 pass protector are accurate, but I have noticed his leaving his stance before the snap for years. I don’t know if it just became more pronounced this past year or the league just decided it was time to rein in his advantage. Maybe it was just an illusion to my un-trained eye and he was just that much better at getting off at the precise moment of the snap over all the other lineman he’s played with.

TBF, most tackles (esp. left) get flagged for false starts.

    1) far from center to see snap (very dependent on a correct snap count esp. what was discussed in huddle)
    2) usually locked up against the other team's best pass rusher & every little bit helps

Just look at the Chiefs LT last year. He got away with FSs like crazy. Announcers and fans of other teams called it out. But ya know... Chiefs.

It was the center’s fault, yet no one else on the line jumped. I suppose the center was also responsible for the illegal formations. Maybe if he wasn’t a "Vet Vet," as CJ called him, not doing the extra work or practice, it wouldn’t have taken most of the season for him to get his act together.

To clarify, I'm agreeing with you and I'm just adding to it. Also, I'm not saying the center didn't cause any.

False starts and illegal formations are separate penalties.

Illegal procedure is a catch all term. "Illegal procedure" might be announced in some instances, but the specific penalties like false start or illegal formation are distinct within the rules and stats and are recorded as such.

It's very disappointing that Nick couldn't land a single high-quality OL. Nick needs to get serious about building a line in this draft and the next.

Judging Quality by the payroll definitely does not work. We're in the middle of trying something different. You know, the opposite of insanity. Give it time.

Assuming Nick picks quality OL in this draft and the next it's likely to take two seasons to field a good OL. So, yes, I will definitely be giving it time.

I suspect the turnaround will be noticeable next season. He wants the same effect from swarm on the on as on the DL.

Bottom Line - The whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts because of swarmy attitude both in games and between games. My expectation is to reach the middle of the pack in the first year with additional improvement afterward. But even half a second will make CJ more effective in running the offense.

But I'm also one of the few here that has not given up on Metchie as an important WR2 to go along with Collins and Kirk. I just think there's another level of recovery he has yet to make which will transform him from a body to a weapon.

I want two types of OL in the draft. Those who are day one starters in one group who are at least capable of starting without embarrassing themselves and the other are projects with a high ceiling who need developmental time or need training time to reshape their body for the NFL.

The former would be top 4 round picks and the developmental would be after that. Perhaps an exception for the highest ceiling developmental prospects like Pierce.

This kid from BC is 6'8 and moves pretty well. He's projected for the third.

I just had a draft I like which just fell right with Booker falling with new additions in non OL 1st round picks.

I started with him at 25 to be the my LG and MBow at 58 to be my RG. After picking up Bech at 79, I had a trade down where I picked up extra prospects at RB, WR and OT. I erased the details, but this is simply getting more realistic than it used to be.
