Irrational confidence? I’m making simple observations these cowards are now nowhere to be found, and it’s obvious why…u would’ve thought the war is now officially over the way they went poof and disappeared
I've made multiple attempts to get a better understanding of what you're saying here and you've refused to elaborate outside of repeating the same vague points. I'm willing to listen but I need a ton more detail. The constant "they" and everything you know about "them" and how "they" think and what "they" are doing gets nobody anywhere. It's really akin to having a conversation with an advanced conspiracy theorist with the extreme vagueness and confidence.
Man, what are u talking about? If u have no clue what Undecided and all the pro-Palestine activists/Jill Stein and Trump voters were doing before the election, it’s not on me to do all the research for u.
I started this thread but it's blown up so much its been hard for me to keep up. I'm dismayed to see more anti-speech deportations going. It's obviously a civil rights abuse, but I don't have a ton of confidence that we'll stop it. Literally because they are afraid of violence or retaliation from the Trump Admin or other bodies that feel they have to enforce his agenda. They understand -- unlike many posters here -- that a fascist government isn't going to respect their right to speak. It will go after them in whichever way they can, which is what we're seeing now with the deportations, the blackmailing of universities and law offices, and the propaganda that advocating for human rights is somehow pro-terrorist and antisemitic. A protest is just an opportunity for more oppression. Resistance has to take other forms, or else you're just raising your hand to volunteer for persecution. Not that we aren't seeing some anyway. A thousand people at Tufts came out to protest the kidnapping of their student. And I'm sure the FBI is writing down their names. The irony I see is that I used to think my shitposting on the bbs was too low profile for anyone in government to see or care what I thought. But, with the power of AI, they can easily build a detailed profile on me and all the political views I've ever expressed here and deal with me however they feel necessary. Its so easy with AI that I don't even have to be a high-value target anymore to be a target. The ironic part is that it makes me feel heard. Now the FBI can ask ChatGPT to provide a 10 bullet summary of my unfavorable ideological positions.
The people who didn't vote in the election is every person who's protested against israel or for palestine? and you know for a fact every one of these people have never protested the trump admin or GOP townhall? You also said pro palestine idiots, and I asked what that means. Is everything you're saying extended to people who simply don't want civilians slaughtered as well? You're making a bunch of connections in your head without laying any of it out in detail and are annoyed that I simply don't understand it all. We're different people brother, and I don't like to debate or discuss off of assumptions.
you’re not even making sense now, seems like u just want to argue if u have no clue what these groups were doing before the election, that’s on u
They no longer have free speech. If speech can get a permanent resident deported, even citizens will be concerned they are next.
these cowards are only comfortable harassing Democrats because they know Dems will tolerate their activity yet when it comes to the current administration that many of them voted for, it’s crickets
Good question. My Grand Parents In Law said that in Germany in the 30's that people witnesses lots of kidnappings and no one tried to stop it beyond screaming at the kidnappers. It seems that humans have a selfish amount of self-preservation or believe that they cannot stop it. Was told that continued when the Soviet Union took part of Poland. People didn't like it -knew it was wrong but didn't stop it.
also, no university with a majority foreign born student body (i.e. Columbia) should receive any US taxpayer funding
A Dallas man was arrested, deported and sent to a notoriously dangerous El Salvadoran prison — and it may have been because of an autism awareness tattoo. That’s according to new reporting from Mother Jones. It’s part of a Trump administration policy of sending Venezuelan men accused of gang affiliations to the Terrorism Confinement Center, also known as CECOT. In most or all cases, they're being locked up without charges or due process, and family members believe they're being targeted because of tattoos. That includes Dallas bakery worker Neri Alvarado, who was picked up by ICE even though there appears to be no evidence he had any gang ties. Mother Jones reporter Isabela Dias joined KERA’s Justin Martin to unpack how it happened — and why families are now desperate for answers. “This was really one of the most egregious cases that we were able to describe in our article,” Dias said. Alvarado came to the U.S. in late 2023, and his family told Mother Jones journalists there was no reason to believe he had any ties to Tren de Aragua — a criminal group from Venezuela currently being targeted by the Trump administration. But in February, Alvarado was picked up by ICE and told it was because of his tattoo, according to his boss. The tattoo in question: an autism awareness ribbon dedicated to his brother, who is autistic. whisked away without any due process and sent to a prison in a different country filled with hardened criminals…this is probably the most appalling thing these devils have done so far
Because they are educating people here legally? That's ridiculous.I don't know why these universities have more foreign students but it's nothing nefarious
People come to this country because we have education that allows free thinking they don't have the Taliban controlling what is being said, the day we let the evangelicals spread their bullshit we become the same as the Taliban. DD
A US judge has ruled the Trump administration can deport Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate detained last month over his role in pro-Palestinian protests. Mr Khalil, a permanent legal US resident, has not been charged with a crime. In a letter written from the facility, he has said his "arrest was a direct consequence" of speaking out for Palestinian rights. The government has cited a Cold War-era immigration law, declaring that his presence in the US was adverse to American foreign policy interests. The immigration court's ruling does not mean Mr Khalil would be immediately removed from the country. The judge gave his lawyers until 23 April to appeal against the order. The activist has been held at a Louisiana detention centre since 8 March, when immigration officers told him he was being deported for taking part in protests against the war in Gaza.
Unfortunately the government has a case according to this law. Protesting against the Jewish government can be construed as supporting Hamas
I think it's still bad faith because any restrictions on visa holders and Green card holders is meant for the approval process when the individual is not within US jurisdiction. Right wing social media accounts spam a US code that refers to supporting or defending foreign terror organizations as a legal way to deport a green card holder and not violate the first amendment but that code is specifically meant for APPROVAL of visa application. As in you can be denied for a visa application for your speech. That is completely different than having your immigration status revoked within the United States. If Mahmoud was applying for a visa and was in Gaza, the US can deny the application with the claim his speech defends "terrorists". However once you are within the US, you can't have your immigration status revoked because of speech. This is exactly why we have Gitmo. So America can legally torture and have indefinite detention without due process without violating the constitution but even then many constitutional scholars believe that is a bad faith interpretation and Gitmo still violates America's due process clause. You can have your immigration status revoked if you do an actual crime though like material support for a terrorist organization but obviously the Trump administration has made no such claims. So this is a new bad faith interpretation. Rules meant to deny or approve visa applications are now used to suppress speech within the country.
