The clips I've seen of him talking to the locker room during spring training have been cringe.

I'm sure dusty was much more captivating and motivating. Granted , these guys are pro's they don't need a rah rah guy , but espada just seems so bland .

    Maybe he's better 1 on 1

Not sure if that's in the cards but all of these prognosticators assuming the Astros dynasty is over just haven't been paying that much attention over the years. It's never about the individuals with this team. Lose Springer and Correa? Win the 2022 World Series. Lose Tucker and Bregman?..........Profit.

Trust me. If there's one thing Dusty does well besides drink whiskey, bullshit, and live a life of love, it's captivate.

Not sure I can say the same for not withholding resentment nor filling out lineup cards.

    Nobody's perfect!

definitely not saying Dusty was perfect .

Maybe things work out and we have great clubhouse chemistry. It also seems like that's partially on the GM , to not only bring in production , but also the right personality fits.

Of course Espada has to keep everyone together . Winning helps a lot .

    This year with a new 3B , 2B , and 1B , we have so much change.

The team will take on an entirely new identity with Bregs/ JV and others gone.

Yainer can step up big time.

    1st/97.

Excited to see Cam, ZD, and other new guys mesh with our vets.

100%. The first loss we have in a game decided by less than 2 runs Yordanthegreat will come through to cash the under here.

Obviously not you, or you'd know that Dusty drinks wine.

The Rangers bullpen and Mariners offense are way bigger holes than anywhere on our team.

Still lots of questions but the Lineup is much deeper than the past 2 years.. I’ll say 95ish, is cam ready for everyday RF? How does the rotation hold up? And what arms do we get at the deadline for the pen.

I drank an entire bottle of whiskey with that man. I think I snapped a picture of it, actually... I'll try to find it. I remember that it had some green trim labeling on a clear bottle, and that it was absolutely divine.

So was his company. I still get a hit just thinking about it.

I loathed the Yainer and Chas situation at least as much as anyone on earth... That aside, is there anything for which Espada is actually revered amongst the organization or around the league? Perhaps @Nook could shed some light.

Disclaimer: I'm not complaining - honestly curious as to his perceived strengths.

Oh I know he'll have a beverage of any sort...but I was thinking of this

Never had a sip of it, but I'd like to try a nice bottle just to see what he's all about

Perhaps it's because I'm older, but I see Cam learning the outfield as much easier than Jose unlearning second base to learn the outfield. There are just some things which have been ingrained with time that are difficult to get away from as you age. It's like the unconscious history interfering with the new learning. But since Biggio's switches from Catcher to 2nd base as a young man and then from 2nd base to OF as an older man are my primary comps, I may have a narrow frame of reference.

There is also this one other liquid in particular that he has enjoyed quite properly, his experience with which he can paint a pretty damned outrageous picture of when reminiscing.
