    Yayyy STAGFLATION:

(Bloomberg) -- Federal Reserve officials held their benchmark interest rate steady for a second straight meeting, though they telegraphed expectations for slower economic growth and higher inflation

Can somebody tell me if a 25% tariff on automobiles is inflationary?

Wow. First full month of Trump

That's a 4.8% annual inflation rate, basically 2x what it was under Biden.

US Feb. Core PCE Rose 0.4% M/m, Est. +0.3%

U.S. consumer prices fall for first time in almost three years

U.S. consumer prices dipped in March, defying predictions that Trump's proposed tariffs would trigger higher inflation. The decline in the Consumer Price Index marks the first monthly drop in nearly three years--and only the second since inflation spiked under former President Biden.

March's 0.1% decline in overall prices came as a surprise to economists, who had expected a 0.1% increase. Core prices--excluding food and energy--rose by just 0.1%, well below the 0.3% that had been forecast.

Not to be pessimistic, but people are entering hunkering down mode because of the uncertainty. Recessions are deflationary.
I flew a bit this March and the airports were relatively emptier compared to this time last year.

It's a real race between the inflationary Trump policies like tariffs and the deflationary ones like total economic collapse

I can not believe that Trump would lie about egg prices.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of eggs in March was around $6.23, up from $5.90 the month before. Despite Trump’s chest-thumping about some supposed dramatic drop, shoppers are still paying through the nose, and any real relief is likely still weeks away.

Thank goodness we didn't elect a sane person who wasn't hell bent on destroying the country for Russian gain and making it's citizens poorer and destroying hundreds of years of American knowledge and soft power overnight - in exchange for absolutely nothing

Or else we'd have to deal with this being the #1 issue in the universe by clowns like @Os Trigonum (may he rest in peace)

I heard yesterday that egg prices should fall in line after the Easter demand for eggs is over.

the demand is supposed to ease after the holiday and the new batch of egg laying chickens that are to replace the ones culled from bird flu will be mature.

As a former Executive Chef who was in charge of purchasing, I know three staples that skyrocket every year around Easter thru Mother's Day.

    Eggs
    Asparagus
    and rack of lamb.

Trump: "You can have all the eggs you want. We have too many eggs. In fact, if anything the prices are getting too low."
They're at a record high - this guy's brain is totally fried
