That is a good point - Luhnow had issues keeping some of his subordinates from being combative with the media and Click lacked the interpersonal skills needed, but they did not lie as often as Brown has.
As for Cam - I know that Brown coveted him before the Tucker trade, and shortly after the trade there were reports that Brown's insistence on Brown changed who the third player the Astros got was. So the feelings for Cam are real and have been consistent with Brown. As for Melton and Matthews - Brown wouldn't trade them at the deadline last year so he has genuine feelings for them. At least for Matthews, as he took him higher than expected in the draft and has known him for many years. On the pitching side the names I have heard Brown connected to are Mike Ullola, Anderson Brito, Ethan Pecko and Bello from the Cubs.
Y’all get way too worked up about what Dana says. Who cares. Only thing I’m worried about is what he does to improve this team.
Who cares if they lie. The media lies all the time. Agents lie all the time. Very few of us know the inner workings of professional sports. I also think collusion is extremely prevalent in the NBA and the nfl has been corrupted by sports gambling. I’m betting on a long and painful lockout for MLB as owners try to figure out how to navigate their growing disparity between haves and have nots. Unless Congress changes amortization laws for corps, most of the nba owners could care less about winning as they are able to write off their “losses” against their other businesses and just sit around and let their investment appreciate until they’re ready to reap their billions.
I thought that only works if they are under the same business entity. Like if they are incorporated as separate businesses, it doesn't work like that?
Is Bello the pitcher Brown wanted in the Cam Smith deal? Funny I say Cam Smith since Tucker is the headliner.
Yes, Bello was the guy that Dana wanted included in a deal for Tucker - but the Cubs wouldn't budge on him once Cam was included over some of the other Cubs higher level prospects that they wanted included so they could keep Cam.
Looks like this is going to be the OD lineup with Walker replacing Dezenzo and batting in the cleanup spot.
A most mustache'y sounding name at least, Jeff Calhoun. Probably know EXACTLY what Jeff Calhoun looks like, even when you've never seen him before
I like what Dana has done, and I think our farm system is better than the prognosticators say. Basically if you don’t draft who is highest on their draft board you automatically had a bad draft in their eyes I guess what bothers me more than anything is the lying about injuries Tucker has a bone bruise Lance and Garcia are doing great and will help us in July/August (24) They don’t gain a competitive advantage lying about injuries, any trade or major transaction I bet this is the opening day lineup with Walker on a rehab assignment
Maybe but I doubt he goes on a rehab assignment. He played in a simulated game today and hit a HR. FWIW Espada just said he’s on track for opening day.
I didn’t know that Dana Brown really coveted Juan Bello. Here I thought that Bello was some “rando” minor leaguer for a salary dump to get out from the salary cap penalties. That makes me excited how good Bello will be.
I will try and find the article that explains it. I’m not a tax attorney. Sorry if I acted to arrogant about it.
No. We could have gotten back nobody of consequence and they’d have taken on all of his salary. We paid something like 7M of RP’s salary to instead get the guy we really liked.
I don’t believe that. Houston would have had to pay a few million to dump Pressly for nothing. I think the amount to get Bello was probably somewhere between $2M and $4M. That still speaks well of Bello but Pressly was a bit underwater.
