He's definitely a Demeco-style LB, and not just because of the Bama connection. I expect them to do *something* to add to the LB group. Love him as a player, but I have zero faith in Christian Harris staying healthy (or Al-Shaair not getting suspended)
Toro Times mock draft: Pick 25: Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota Reuter kicks off the draft with Aireontae Ersery, a 6-foot-6, 331-pounder from Minnesota. He's a three-year starter at left tackle and can work on his technique during his rookie season before being moved into the starting lineup. Pick 58: Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State Another big body is added here as Reuter selects Joshua Farmer from FSU in the second round. He's 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds and would give them a young 3-tech to develop into their long-term starter. Pick 79: Shemar James, LB, Florida Houston needs depth at linebacker and Reuter gets that for them with their first of two picks in Round 3. Shemar James is a talented player who could be a steal at this point. Pick 89: Savion Williams, WR, TCU Speaking of steals, Savion Williams at No. 89 feels like robbery. Williams didn't put up elite receiving statistics during his career but a lot of that was due to the issues TCU had at quarterback. When he got the ball, he was electric. He's also capable of making plays out of the backfield and can help as a returner.
CJ gets his WR. We get TWO high-quality IOL that can (hopefully) contribute IMMEDIATELY. Then we get a young DT that can hopefully turn into a run-stuffing starter. With our 5th we get a linebacker that excels in coverage. Maybe he's a situational, 3rd-down player. In the 7th we get a CB that isn't bad (hopefully) and can provide depth. Last, we get a talented, short, quick receiver that can be used in certain packages and might even become our 4th receiver.
makes sense. As soon as the qb said hike, he was teleporting to get open at the senior bowl. Has Bech been in for a visit yet?
Thanks for sharing @Fulgore! I did a little extra digging and he looks really interesting. Because of his low production (65 catches over 4-years) I would have thought he may be a Day 3 guy, but looking at his combine performance and some of the advanced metrics below, we may need to use #3 (89) on him if we think he's the guy. He'll need some route tree development, but his size, speed and hands would open up our offense. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2025/01/02/donte-thornton-jr-scouting-report-nfl-draft
I traded up with the Dolphins, picks 13 and 116, The target was Banks. I did not expect to get any WR I was happy with and was planning on taking a flyer on someone like Thorton at 116 but Tre was on the board at 58 which made me happy but also meant I would miss out on other potential OL. Thorton is who I have been picking late when I move up for Warren and grab OL with 58 or 79 13. Kelvin Banks Jr. OT Texas 58. Tre Harris WR Ole Miss 79. Alfred Collins DT Texas 89. Chris Paul Jr. LB Ole Miss 116. Dylan Fairchild OG Georgia 166. (?) Brashard Smith RB SMU 236. (?) 241. (?)
Yessir. Insane type athletic ability. Hoping Nick takes 2 wrs in this draft. This is the guy I would want as a project instead of the Metchie and Hutch type.
I'd be pretty happy with that draft with the guys I know about. Haven't looked at Harris or Paul yet, but will check them out. Love Fairchild and Smith in the later rounds.
