Basically only 3 players off the bench getting meaningful minutes lately. I’m guessing this is Ime’s way of preparing for a playoff push. Jabari, Tari, and Adams getting majority of the bench minutes. Most of the team is young and can handle the load, just hope the team stays healthy!
Man the other teams are going to be so well rested going into the playoffs I wonder if it will even matter that we're younger. Feels a little like we're walking into a trap.
Jabari played 17 minutes in a game we were trying to come back in, he is a 3pt threat, if on the court, Ime is losing games with his stubborness. DD
Denver also played 3 guys (plus a nobody for 3 minutes) off the bench. When Boston won it last year, they played 3 players off the bench who logged at least 60 minutes in the series.
I don't like it, but barring injuries what you saw tonight will most likely be our playoff rotation. Houston has a deep bench, but it doesn't do you any good when you don't play them.
I dont like the shortened rotation because the Rockets have a deep team. Nobody should be playing above 36 mins unless they are beasting. Over reliance on starters is how the Rox end up throwing games. More and more Ime reminds me of Marc Jackson. He is a good coach for getting guys trained and developed but may not be the one to helm a contender cuz of his lack of rotation management and Xs and Os coaching.
Yep, he is very stubborn and sticks to certain players to the team’s detriment. Against Denver no one was playing well, so instead of trying something different he just stuck to what wasn’t working. I was saying throw in Cam and give Denver a different look. Try Holiday who I’m not the biggest fan of but if he happens to be making his threes, that’s exactly what the Rockets needed. Fred was awful all game, but Ime will watch the ship sink with Fred at the helm.
You shorten the rotation in the playoffs. they better get used to playing their best players now. stop using DB and Amen as power forwards.
I remember that role players like Von Wafer or Prigioni could play great in playoffs. Why do we have to shorten rotation? What would you say when they get injured due to overplaying? I know our role players wont get burned under stubborn Ime.
Jabari should’ve taken some of the shots Jalen hoisted up.12 attempts are far too many for a SG who isn’t a sharpshooter from beyond the arc. If Jabari had gotten 6 or 7 more looks this game, we might’ve come out with the win.
I think this team has the talent to advance in the playoffs, but the coaching may be what holds us back this year.
Our oldest core guys are 23, the others are 20-21. They are kids how they perform now wont be the way they perform when they are 26 so tbh I dont see how it changes anything. Unless we do a superstar trade the team talent will be evenly distributed, Ime should realize and start playing deep rotations which reduce fatigue, injury risk and make everyone play harder cuz they have limited PT. Jabari, Tari and Amen should all be getting 30 mins at minimum. FVV, DB, Jalen and Sengun should be maxed at 35 mins unless they are having a career night. Adams should be getting at least 20 mins and maybe Cam/Holiday should get 10 mins as well.
FVV been back just less than a handful games. Amen came back from injury. Before that, the other youngsters have been getting minutes. So the shorten of roation for some players is only on very recent number of games. I don't mind the topic, but context. Jabari for example was getting 32, 39 and 26 minutes in last 5th, 4th and 3rd game. The last two games it went a bit shorter 22 and 17minutes. Let's not have a memory of a gold fish. The rotation shortening is only very recent. It's not like it's been happening for 10 straight games. Like I said, I'm Ok with Ime trying stuff, because it's still data to have and use. Trying it now and see is cheaper than having to trying during the playoffs. If you ask Ime, it's probably because of the opponents, momentum and matchup dependent. We can easily see next few games, can go back to the elongated rotation. Let a coach have some flexibility and grace to have his lineup. I rather a NBA coach try stuff, then be stubborn and not try at all. It's not too complciated two key players returned (fvv and amen), and Adams is getting more use, so minutes will be squeezed from some others. *shrugs*
