You talking about government or capitalism?

Hey, I got issues with people making over 750k a year getting the biggest tax cuts. I don't see that as healthy for a very unhealthy nation when it comes to income disparity. But that has nothing to do with the parasites that use shell organizations like USAID to leech billions from taxpayers. Kickbacks, money laundering bureaucracies within bureaucracies, and ideological nonsense is not something anyone's tax dollars should go to regardless of income bracket. Auditing every corner of government is absolutely needed and no one can debate otherwise unless they are part of the gravy train. Even with SNAP and Medicaid, there are decades long patterns of abuse , fraud and manipulation that any social worker will tell you about. Dem or Rep, it doesn't matter ...they've gotten very comfortable with an unethical way of doing business under the act of "governance" and that BUCK STOPS HERE . Either you're transparent or you're not spending public money, period.

So USAID not only helps other nations, it helps the United States. Is there some waste, sure? But the waste isn't leeching billions. This is evidenced by the Trump administration out lying about where USAID spends its money.

The other nations are helped by the healthcare USAID gives. But the US is also helped. We've seen that diseases, viruses, and other health problems don't observe borders. To help the spread of those diseases to the United States, it behooves us to help treat them where they are currently.

Chaos erupts between Trump's cabinet and Musk. New reporting from the NY Times: -

Rubio, furious over Musk’s cuts to his agency, fired back after Musk mocked him: “You have fired nobody.” Rubio countered that over 1,500 State Department officials had taken early retirements, accusing Musk of lying.

The Transportation Secretary accused Musk’s team of trying to lay off air traffic controllers. Musk called it a "lie" and demanded names. Duffy shot back that there were no names—because he had stopped the firings.

Secretary Doug Collins warned that Musk’s cuts would harm thousands of veterans, a core Trump constituency. Trump agreed they should "retain the smart ones and get rid of the bad ones."

country is being run by a bunch of idiots

LOL, by what standard? We know Trump thinks he's the smartest guy in the world and that's obviously a bunch of BS. We also know some of the types he's endorsed to be good ones in the past were just dumbasses, like Hershel Walker, MTG, and Lauren Boebert.

they keep talking about finding all this fraud, yet there hasn’t been a single arrest…a single indictment

Last I checked, isn’t fraud a crime? The fraud is so rampant, yet the party of “law and order” hasn’t arrested anyone for this crime??

The cult of right wing politics. The habitual use of phrases and words is so uncanny. "DEI hire" "Waste fraud and abuse"

These people just say phrases with a blank vapid stare with nothing in between their ears. It's blank. Meaningless. Just words they've been told to repeat and repat and repeat. It's so creepy.

USAid cuts could create untreatable TB bug ‘resistant to everything we have’

US state department has said its strategy was now that “every dollar we spend, every programme we fund and every policy we pursue must make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous”.
But Ditiu said: “Stopping the TB response doesn’t do any of this. First of all, for sure it makes none of us safe, because TB is airborne. You cannot stop it at the border. It’s spread through air – as long as you breathe, you will get it. And not just TB, but also drug-resistant TB and extreme drug-resistant TB.
“The current measures will probably create additional strains because there are people with interrupted treatment, there are people not diagnosed and so on,” she said.

Patients with drug-resistant TB at a hospital in Johannesburg. More than 50,000 people died from TB in South Africa in 2023, the WHO says.

In 2023, there were 10.8m new TB cases and 1.25 million people dying from the disease. The US itself has had two tuberculosis outbreaks in the past three months, in Kansas and North Carolina. The WHO and UN have set targets of eradicating the disease by 2030, but even before the US aid decision, there was an $11bn shortfall in the global response.
Disrupted treatment and diagnosis during the Covid pandemic resulted in doctors seeing “more complicated” forms of TB in their patients, Ditiu said, including some with holes in their lungs.

“We did a lot of work with civil society and communities, and they were supporting people to get a diagnosis, to continue their treatment – and none of that is there now.”
Ditiu said there could be drug shortages later in the year as countries used up their supplies.

It was “heartbreaking”, she said. “I’m very upset that we were a bit trusting that the solidity of a commitment of a country like the US will be there for ever.”

I see no reason to ever vote Republican unless I want to give the billionaire class another tax cut and screw the poor/disabled/stupid over. Too bad the average American has the memory capacity of a 91 year old dementia patient.

Eventually, we’ll come to know that these intruders into our personal and sensitive data not only failed to handle it securely but also took copies of it.

(Bloomberg) -- A staffer for the Department of Government Efficiency violated Treasury Department policies when he sent a spreadsheet containing personal information to two other people in the Trump administration, a federal official revealed in a court filing Friday.

That DOGE staffer was Marko Elez, who left his job tracking Treasury payments after social media posts linking him to racist beliefs surfaced online. He has since been rehired by DOGE at the Social Security Administration.

The details about the data exchange come out of a forensic analysis Treasury conducted as part of a lawsuit brought by New York and other state attorneys general attempting to halt President Donald Trump’s efficiency initiative from accessing sensitive payment information about US taxpayers, contractors, employees and beneficiaries.

The violation raises concerns about the data security practices of DOGE’s work at the Treasury Department and other agencies as it digs into sensitive government databases. A federal filing earlier this week noted that any disruptions to the Treasury payments systems “could have catastrophic consequences,” including risking federal default on obligations or jeopardizing social support payments to millions of Americans.

Talk about a chump change agency that has an enormous return, how about the Institute of Museum & Library Services? That's the group that supports interlibrary loan and organizes federal grants for local libraries. Your local library will now be poorer and offer less services as the IMLB just got killed by executive order. This was their mission statement, which probably hastened their death sentence:

IMLS envisions a nation where individuals and communities have access to museums and libraries to learn from and be inspired by the trusted information, ideas, and stories they contain about our diverse natural and cultural heritage.

He is so compromised with Tesla factories in China that I wouldn't be surprised if he sabotaged Taiwan with his available resources.

But like China has so more leverage over Elon. Why would you want such sensitive information to be stored with someone who's vulnerable to the enemy.
