He is one of the Better TEAM defenders in the league. Coach has acknowledged it. And the metrics are not created by sengunatics to deceive you. Harden has come a long way too. I think some of you just expect a center to swap away and contest every shot. When in reality they get got more than you think or willing to admit for your own reasons.
My own reasons? I think “some of you” just need to be realistic that’s all. Lol. You called him one of the top defenders in the league, and he’s not even a top defender on his own team. Amen, Jabari, Tari, and Brooks are all better defenders. He’s improved on defense this year and I’ve acknowledged that and given him credit for it. All I’m saying is calling him one of the best defenders in the league is most definitely a reach.
Some 'fans' when you tell them Sengun has made strides defensively: Growth. And there is still more to learn for Sengun like fouling in the back without getting whistled ala Adebayo.
I believe that if we ask the "fans," many will consider Sengun to be the weakest link on the team, yet the data indicates his impact is the highest. It seems that sengunatics may be skewing NBA official statistics to portray him favorably. Our fans wont be fooled by sengunatics, yay.
Sengun worshipers when you agree that Sengun has improved on defense and is the teams best player currently, but disagree that Sengun is the best defender in the league since Hakeem Olajuwon:

Love the "Ankle Breaker", we needed that and more last night but no Alpi is not one of the better defenders on the roster. I know statics support him improving on defense but if you look at what goes on on the floor, he hasn't. When Jabari went down, the defense suffered and the existence of the Double Big lineup. Both show that he NEEDS a defensive presences by his side for him to be effective. It hides his shortcomings, no pond intended. The Double Big lineup is actually smart, because you hide a players weakness. I'd be curious to see if Sacramento tries it with Sabonis if we were to matchup
Sengun is this team's only, sole allstar and his gravity in post in hard times makes this team win.. All other blah blahs.. Are details.. It is also very stoopid to say that Sengun is a bad defender. For the idiots, just think: how can you sit #2 seed and your center, starting and allstar center makes bad defense? lt is against life logic.. Nobody says that Sengun is Dikembe Mutombo or Hakeem.. But bad defense? This is insult to this teams best player next to Amen... Amen and Sengun are this team's core and this is without any question...

Under Silas, so like 3,000pages ago in this thread, I looked at the Celtics and thought we should play Sengun the way the Celtics use an aging Horford. Great defense. Sengun can do that and strive. A year later that Celtics coach becomes the Rockets coach. Now uses Sengun in a very familiar way. "Numbers back up Sengun's defense but...." Mhmmm not bias at all
Then why are we defending much better compared to last year with our starting 5, when there are no two bigs, and it is exactly the same 5 guys. Starting 5 defensive rating last year 111.7 this year 102.6 It is probably the other 4 guys are playing so much better defense that, even if Sengun hasn't improved they are giving away 9 pts less. That's the only reasonable explanation.
Nah man, and I say this as someone who has repeatedly pissed off Sengunatics, his foot speed is better and he’s playing the pick and roll better.
