Does anyone think they will just eat Beal's contract?
or do they let him languish for the next 2 yrs

The reality is that - If we were to get Durant for FVV
    we would need a PG
    Period.
Doesn't have to be a world beater but has to be competent PG

Considering how well the Rockets have played all season and last season with FVV and without, I think the pro-cut FVV should at some point realize that any inflation of FVV's value is small versus how undervalued he is by the pro-cut, pro-trade FVV crowd.

I think FVV is a good backup pg. I think he is far shy of a starting PG on a contending team. I don’t really think that’s undervaluing him, I think it is right-sizing him. He was always intended as a mentor and vet presence for a re-building team. His contract and the continued improvement of our core young players merits a re-evaluation of his fit on this team. In my opinion, he has great value going forward as backup PG at a reasonable contract of 25M. There is no reason to compete against ourselves in re-signing him. I don’t know of any contending team that thinks they are an FVV away from the top, especially as poor as he has shot from 3 pt range and gets injured every year.

Why would you think that FVV is not good enough to be the starting PG on a contending team? Jrue Holiday started on two championship teams in the last five years, Kyle Lowry started on the Raptors in 2019 (that season he averaged 14.2, and 8.7 on 41.1% / 34.7% shooting, very similar to FVV's production the last two seasons combined). You can argue those guys were a bit better than FVV is now, but all three are certainly in the same ballpark. Hell, we've even seen teams win championships with guys like Derek Fisher or Mario Chalmers as their starting point guard in the not-so-distant past.

If you were to say "FVV isn't good enough to be the 2nd best player on a championship team", I would agree with that. He's definitely good enough to start on one though, as a high-level roleplayer.

If they could get FVV for nothing. . . . I think Pheonix would improve dramatically
Traded for KD . . . the improvement would be marginal but that would mean BEAL and BOOKER would have to do much more

In the games without FVV, Amen has basically averaged 16/9/6 on a .63 TS%. With more experience, those numbers could easily jump to like 20/10/7, which is arguably an All NBA line when factoring in Amen’s defense. The only thing is his TOs in those games are high (2.8), but that also should come down with experience.

In other words, FVV is nice to have, but we’d be absolutely fine with Amen at PG next season.

FVV’s style of play and pedestrian outside shooting with very little driving ability. Walk it up, dribbling the clock out is good for having great Turnover numbers, but it is not winning basketball in this era of the NBA. He is what a re-building team needed not a contending team. This will be more apparent if they let him test the FA market. No contender is looking to add FVV as a starting PG. Please name one.

Teams have very little cap space this offseason so they're mostly out of the market. I'm sure a number of contenders would love to have him. He's not ideal as a guy you run the entire offense through every time up the court, but he's perfect as a roleplayer PG--he spaces the floor, protects the ball, and plays on both ends. I honestly think around half of contenders would start him over their worst backcourt player if they had him on the roster, and they would use him the way we should be using him alongside Amen--as the point guard part of the time, and as an off-ball shooter part of the time.

Edit: Side note, people really should start giving a little more respect to Fred's shooting. Only a handful of players attempt more 3Pers per game, and he knocks them down at an above-average rate (career percentage, or last two seasons combined). There's no reason to think this season's 3P% is his true talent level, it's simply random variance. He's a true floor-spacer of the kind that almost always gets to start in today's league when they're not a defensive liability.

I don't want anything to do with KD, just keep the Suns picks or trade them to someone else for something better/more age appropriate for this team.

    Perfect solution:
    Rockets In:
    Herro
    Ware
    Rozier
2025 frp via Heat via GS

    Heat in:
    Durant
    Reed

    Phoenix in:
    25 swap
    29 swap
    FVV

Rozier good combo guard off the bench. Ware frontline help. Herro Jalen insurance. Phoenix gets their picks. We get outside shooting and good young frontline player. Good backup Pg.

    Amen/Rozier
    Jalen/Herro
    Tari/Dillon
    Jabari/Ware
    Sengun/FA (Reid)

    Crazy talk!
Just take Miami out of that equation and we are better off....

I don't see the benefit of trading our starting PG, our recent #3 pick, and 2 firsts for bench guys.

I wouldn't offer much for KD - but if sending out FVV there are potential free agent options for vet backup PG (eg Brogdon?) And/or we could move another young guy for a long backup big

Reportedly they want 3 picks and a young player. That’s a definitive no!!

Made more sense at the deadline imo.

I don’t think Phx hasn’t earned any of their picks back.

Can talk 2 of those out years Rockets own picks but okay with walking away no deal.

Who is still an all-star, averaging 28 at high efficiency? Right, we don't need that at all on this team. FVV going 1 for 9 in the background is what we like. That's what wins games.

Rozier is terrible. You must not watch Miami Heat . Heat fans hate dude. Charlotte fans. Laugh at him. Still. He has low lights on Twitter and YouTube.

This is what you want to bring to our franchise? I thought we we’re done tanking

How the hell do we do a deal with Phoenix involving Durant and don’t get Durant?

    that’s a terrible deal

They don’t have a choice but to keep Beal. Beal doesn’t want to move his family.

Nothings definitive. You don’t have to offer up what they are asking if your offer is still better than what the other guy is offering.

What’s your house really worth??… what someone is willing to pay for it.
