“He allowed the sixth highest pressure rate among left guards (9.1%) with at least 300 pass blocking snaps and 11 sacks (the most) according to Next Gen Stats.”
Tomlinson was really good at blocking outside zone scheme when he was with the 49ers. I guess we'll be seeing quite a bit of that with Nick Caley's offensive scheme.
Solid guy that projects as a high quality depth guy; obviously he has that type of attitude the Texans are coveting for their OL unit. I know little about him, but sending off Tunsil and Green shows the Texans are manning up to past personnel mistakes. Bandages approach did not work, they needed to amputate the potential of a few fellas - and two guys with lots of talent are now ex-Texans.
Is he a DAWG though? Because we have some youngins and a follower in Howard that need to see how a real dawg olineman conducts himself.
That puts the situation into context!!! Tomlinson isn’t a probowler by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s closer to the mean of what an NFL offensive lineman should be.
How can anyone not dig this? He's a guy that excels in our scheme who can be rotated in. A solid veteran presence. And, we got him for next to nothing.
Don’t think ppl are mad at getting him, they are worried the team is expecting him to be MORE than rotated in.. like starting..
At this point the OL was bonkers…. And most of us would have wanted an average OL, one that isn’t paid like a top 5 line but performs like a bottom 20 OL. Perhaps the team would have kept some of those drive alive, instead of enduring the drive killing killing false starts. Tunsil knows he’s talented and he’s good. He’s a cool dude, but Tunsil will leverage his status to milk a team of financial compensation. He’s a smart man, but obviously not the type of fella you can build a championship team around. Only way it works with that type of guy, is if a team catches lightning in a bottle. Texans got irritated that as soon as the team exits the playoffs, here come Tunsil with 2 years on his contract demanding more money. With Anderson, Stroud, Stingley ready to get paid soon, the Texans saw that Tunsil doesn’t rub off on his OL teammate, he’s not synergistic. So it makes sense to go with another direction. I’m assume the Texans pick an OL in the 1st or 2nd round.
