I want you to think about something for a second. Imagine you are a high school civics or history teacher and you ask your students to come up with what their platform is. Now imagine that they tell you their plan is to annex Canada as the 51st state, to buy Greenland ..... to deport nearly 30 million people, including 15 million workers.... to pass massive tariffs.... to turn against all your allies and align with Russia.... to tell everyone that the invaded country actually invaded... and tinker with eliminating the federal income tax. What would you tell a 15-16 year old high school student? Now - imagine that it is a 77 year old man doing these things with the full support of his political party - while the other party outside of 4-5 people say and do nothing except hold up signs saying they don't agree. Now imagine the most powerful nation in the world is doing this.
He's smart when it comes to grifting and conning folks, but a trainwreck when it comes to thinking logically and acting responsibly.
Actually he's 79 in 3 months. He's approaching the point where he starts aging physically and mentally in dog years.
This is such an overt betrayal to the right wings core economic values. The anger this will cause if it materializes is going to be very interesting to watch. The envisioned payoff for such a catastrophic move against his legacy has to be huge. He’s seemingly trying to direct the anger from this at Canada as a tool to manufacture support for… claiming Canada as a state.
President Trump’s latest tariffs are an attack on Canadian workers, families, and businesses. My government will ensure our response has maximum impact in the US and minimal impact here in Canada, while supporting the workers impacted.
