[Pain] HUGE, self-inflicted Recession incoming due to Trump/Musk

Why?
My father passed in Texas last month.
He passed on a Sunday needed to get there on Monday.
I am an American Express Delta Sky Miles platinum card holder with almost 320,000 sky miles available. If any of you have this card you know when you pay your yearly service charge you get a chit for a free companion flight anywhere in the lower 48.
So making reservation with a flight coordinator they do not honor the chit without 7 days notice.
In addition they wanted 1,700 bucks for each of us.
That equates to all of my miles. So I had to fly with American Airlines. Still paid 1200 each.
We are going to Barcelona this summer with our miles and then I'm moving my balance to a different card and giving them the middle finger.

Next day flights aren't cheap, and I get that. But to choose not to honor a free flight chit that isn't really free is a bad look.
Like I said, after our trip to Europe I will switch cards and never fly Delta again.
Funny thing is there were a fair number of empty seats on each of my flights on American.
Wouldn't any airline rather sell the seats at a normal rate than have them not sell at all.

Funniest part of the trip was.........
When I got to my rent a car they had given me an EV Mercedes upgrade which is awesome, but I had to get a different vehicle, because I know there are no charging stations in the lovely town of Woodville, Texas. Got a Chevy Blazer which was nice since I already drive a 23 Colorado. Same instrument cluster.

and then they wonder why people aren’t excited to vote for them…nobody wants to be associated with a bunch of weak losers who do nothing

To be fair, it is an added difficulty to be good at messaging when you're at a disadvantage against such a massive misinformation campaign and propaganda machine such as modern right wing media.

The billionaires standing behind Trump at inauguration control most of the platforms that shape the modern flow of information. Algorithm driven social media that puts engagement as a priority (and guess what's most likely to force engagement?) and the already poor attempts at countering misinformation have only become worse, often by design as most recently evidenced by Zuckerberg's capitulation.

It's how you get to the point where we all see with our own eyes things like January 6th or the Zelensky presser and yet somehow once the machine fires up within 24 hours the marching orders are given and reality starts to fray.


there's a lot of clout and money to be made by the right wing propaganda system, and selling bullshit is much easier than trying to explain the truth. But the modern version of it is a system, by design, intended to influence. And it does its job well.
