Jabari's weakside defense and defensive rebounding is felt in that starting lineup and felt without it. Obviously Amen is the better defender, but Jabari is no slouch and provides a different defensive role. He also spaces the floor significantly better and is an actual threat from deep. Will be curious to see how the team looks with Jabari starting again (I hope) now that Amen is hurt.
I actually had a pikachu shocked face when I saw Jalen of all people, setting an off-ball screen to free up a 3pt shot that went in for (i believe)Brooks? But i have noticed more off ball screens to free up shots from deep.
Jabari plays better as a SF but since we have Brooks he’s pegged as a PF here … with Amen hurt and the new double big lineup - look for Bari to be about more aggressive (whenever the ball does reach him) He’s kind of never had a chance to grow during the season and show what he showed in summer league because he’s the 4th/5th option on this team Alpi JG FVV Brooks Bari - now playing with Reed who looks for him he looked a lot better … he needs to decide if he wants to be a big SF or bulk up to really play PF (if his body can handle it)
It will be interesting to see how much more space Jalen and Sengun have to operate in the paint if you surround them with at least average 3pt shooters. It could unlock Jalen in particular - his free throw rate has dived as Amen's role has increased. Everything about the modern NBA revolves around 3pt shooting. It's astounding that the Rockets give so many touches to a player that can't hit that shot - ironic too since they led the 3pt revolution. Assuming Fred returns soon, I predict this version of the team will have a much higher net rating over the next 30 days versus the last 30 days and will win a playoff round too. If those things happen, Amen might go from the chosen one to trade chip this summer.
Jabari has free range out there. He’s the one wanting to put the ball on the floor more than he shud. Dude is entering that Julius Randle territory where he does more than he should. Minny was playing like a top 4 team in the west with Randle out and son as he returns they revert back to a play-in team
guys that think bari shutoff be dribbling around and bring critical of his game because he doesn't dribble around are stupid guys that think jalen is a quality player on the dribble are stupid guys that think both the above are double stupid bari has looked terrific defensively at the 3 without the dribble he does not need the dribble to be a tremendous 3 and d player
Excited to see Bari seize the opportunity tonight. He's bigger than Amen, younger than Amen, and a better shooter too.
I meant run some plays for him in the midrange. That's not "free range" out there. Most of the time they have him squatting in the corner. He's easily one of our best shooters and when the shots are not falling for anyone he can get a pretty decent look in the midrange usually. But they almost never run it. Like set a pick for him or something to get him open for a second there, that's all that's needed most of the time.
He is 3 months younger and that is to me the same age. Amen has the IT factor. The difference being you expect Amen to get a triple double and won't celebrate a 20 point outing but you do it with Jabari because it has gotten rare. You just expect more from him.
A 20 point game aka celebrated when any player k this team does it. It’s not taken for granted on clutch
If Amen is making a jump to being a star or defensive star, you expect more from him rather sooner than later. CF or not. That goes for any talented prospect in the league.
Just counting stats is simplistic. The team does better with Bari because he stretches the floor. With Amen out there the other teams just wall off the paint.
He does but when his contract situation is on the table we have to see if there are better options or not. It all depends on his appetite and that of his agent.
