You realize he created the opportunity right? So the goal is play in he gave you 5th seed now you want him fired because he cant make the 5th seed a contender in the same year the goal was the play in? I am so happy Tilman Fertita is the owner in charge.
Keep telling yourself that. When your team exceeds expectation, you work on maintaining that and not regress to the conservative forecast for the team. I bet you like the Cody Zeller trade as well
You are completely out of touch with reality + spouting nonsense. The +/- for this game: Amen 0.0 Stevo 0.0 Alp -2.0 Tari -2.0 Reed -6.0 Cam -6.0 Dillon -11.0 Jabari -19.0 Jalen -22.0
We’ve drafted 4 straight top 4 picks and you’re bragging about being a temporary top 5 seed. I’d hope you’d be a top 4 seed if you employ that strategy. But this same argument was made 3 weeks ago when we were 2nd seed and 2 weeks from now, y’all will say 7th seed.
You think it makes sense to fire the guy who made your team exceed expectation? Just the premise alone makes your statement look dumb. This is the same reason Nico Harris traded Luka he traded the guy who brought them to the Finals cuz he felt they should be champions not finalists. So he trades the guy who made them exceed expectations now the Mavs suck.
Forget Durant. Just a solid career 6th man like Jones. Tyus Jones. Missed that window. 40% shooter. Wont turn the ball over. What a young team needed with knowing that FVV had a serious ankle. But I'm not complaining.
Comparing Stone to Nico is like apples and oranges. Nico is covering up a blatant cover up of a stupid move driven by owners which I won't go into detail here. Stone has the opportunity to capitalize on the team's momentum and start looking for upgrades in areas where it could potentially push us further into contention. Tell me this, when your business starts showing increased returns early in the quarter, do you scale back because you have a lower sale target or do you look for ways to maintain that momentum?
A team with zero backup PG or backup C and a mess of a bench but somehow Stone should be praised for creating a shitty team for 3 straight years to get top picks. Can he build an actual team? Mind you, this is a team that looks completely brain dead without FVV. So how much talent do we actually have?
Tell me pls, if your increased sales is due to your star sales manager do you fire him for getting sales that exceeded your expectation? I dont know how familiar you are in business but businesses set up expectations (forecast) and then they are judged by those expectations for the year. If they exceed their revenue forecast the sales team doesnt get fired for not meeting arbitrary new targets the company sets right after they hit their goal. You can argue Stone did not push and capitalize on his advantage but at the same time he also already exceeded the goal everyone had for the year which make the play in. Firing him after he exceeded the goal you have set is just a dumb thing to do. Instead of rewarding him for exceeding the goal you are punishing him for it. Thats just backwards thinking Nico Harris logic.
I agree. You have to take advantage of opportunities because you never know what may happen in the future in regards to injuries, luck, etc. To not try and get a shooter at the deadline especially at the price guys were going for is inexcusable.
Seriously, Patrick Fertitta is the one to thank. Most other GMs are on such short leashes that it affects their decision making. Rather than planning for a gradual return to contending, they try to make things happen immediately because their team owner is breathing down their neck. Stone has Patrick as a buffer. And since Tilman has been known to make impulsive and/or dumb moves (CP3 for multiple FRPs and WESTBROOK? WTF??), it's good to have someone between him and the GM to preach patience. At least I assume that's why Stone has had the luxury to rebuild from the ground up.
I would if I see sales going down (our standings) and regressing to earlier forecasts (play in). That means he's someone who's either afraid to take risks and only in it for being mediocre
But the rockets arent play in either? They are 5th seed. binibiliSo even if we follow your twisted logic it is still wrong. Plus everyone agreed the target was play in. So you fire Stone after hitting the target everyone agreed on? Thats not how the world operates nobody would work for a company like that.
I am not going to trash stone and say he has done a horrible job, actually he has done an outstanding job building this team from scratch and drafting young players with good potential but is he the guy that can take you to the next step in trading for players that will make you a contender? I don’t know and honestly I would say no
Warriors won by the way and Clippers might take out PHX as well so your shiny 5th seed would probably be at 6 or 7 next week. We can agree to disagree but I am not a fan of mediocrity like some fans in here
this is what I'm saying. Stone did a great job assembling the framework of this roster but we need someone to do the finishing touches
