I want to say yes but I'm not sure. For instance post-covid everything at the supermarket is now hugely marked up compared to before. Yet whenever I shop I still see people mostly buying the overpriced pre-packaged stuff. Chips, muffins, prepared meals, etc. Even though these days they're often cost twice what they used to be. Meanwhile I'm buying raw meat and veggies that cost 1/3 of what they have and taste better and healthier. I mean yes you do have to know how to cook, but these days with youtube you can learn how to cook almost any dish around the world in 10 minutes. Honestly it does baffle me the lack of cooking ability for so many Americans, despite it being the most obvious money-saver available to people and has the added benefit of being good for your health.
It doesn’t surprise me. American “money problems” are different than anywhere in the world. When it comes to money, Americans complain more than anyone but their actual financial issues are less than anywhere else I have lived or visited.
