I'm actually curious to see how this goes. To me, Trump is just accelerating what has been happening for decades now, slowly eroding away freedom and making America a corporate country. But this acceleration actually makes it clear that's going on, instead of slow, behind the scenes stuff that normal citizens can never notice.

There is a possibility that this is a wake up call. Or it's possible that that the influence of the mega rich is so high even such blatant government overreach isn't going to matter. If it's the former, then Trump may actually be a good thing for the country long term. If it's the latter, well, it's been a good run of regular Joes having good lives. Back to the old days where the 1% runs the lives of everyone else.

 

The Elites send their offspring to the top business schools, so they can graduate and have the easy life of upper middle class America. Imagine their surprise when Harvard wants their money right the **** now ... while junior boomeranged back and is sharpening their Call of Duty skills.

The opposite of what you say is true. Trump is reducing the size of government and lowering taxes. This increases freedom. Financially speaking, the percentage "free" you are is equal to (1 - the effective tax rate). Trump is slashing regulations. Trump is eliminating the unelected, unaccountable government bureaucracy. Trump is reducing America's entanglement in foreign affairs, such as funding the war in Ukraine. Trump is protecting the country by securing the border. Trump is delivering on radical transparency in government. All of these initiatives make us more free, not less.

Let's use a simple hypothetical. In a village with 100 people. 1 village chief who makes the rules. 5 sheriffs with access to guns and ammo and are tasked with village safety, and 94 farmers and craftsmen who make the village run. One day people get upset that the village chief has too many rules, so they tell the chief to step down so that people can have their freedom back. So the village chief stop working and rip up all the rules of the village. And everyone gets to be free and do what they want... right?

 

You raise a great point that I omitted. 2nd amendment rights -- gun ownership. This is yet another area where Trump is working to make the American people more free. An armed populace is the ultimate check on government power -- which is why dictators often move to take guns away from citizens.

So let's see:

• Reducing taxes
• Increasing transparency
• Ensuring that elected officials and their representatives rule, not unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats
• Arming the populace, not taking their arms
• Ending wars, not starting them and letting them run forever

All of these are 180 degrees from what a dictator would do. Trump is restoring our freedom. It's why Americans elected him for a third time.

If you want freedom, then you don't want the state police paid for by taxpayer money who work for the government. Police should just be privatized so that people pay for their own safety. As do electricity or water or road services. Because as of right now all these services are regulated by the inept big government and they need to be fully privatized so people can get better service.
