Yeah Dallas were barely ahead of Phoenix im the standing, be hard to believe that Phoenix can’t surpass them now

Can u imagine being a Mavs fan and having Nico Harrison as your GM? I would be getting very emotional right now. I honestly never thought I could feel sympathy for a Mavs fan. I sincerely do right now. Down right awful the way this guy has literally destroyed Dallas’ present and future. Great for Houston though ;)

Because the Rockets will likely be talking to Phoenix frequntly since they own the Suns picks and have an eye on Booker, the topic of KD will certainly come up whether the Rockets are interested or not. If the price drops enough, the Rockets might find themselves with a deal they like.

Not only did Nico take down his own team, he literally gifted a conference rival a get out of jail free card for their aging future. It’s insanely stupid on so many levels. I can’t believe ownership allowed it to happen.

I'm liking the up to date stories and banners on the website @Clutch. Feels much more engaging. Good points about the impact on the team in the near and long-term.

Insanely bad at basketball, but that is not his game. His game is making money and he is brilliant at that.

With Dallas' implosion and the Spurs losing Wemby, the 'Texas Triangle' has turned into 'A Tough Stop in Houston'.

They did get 10% on the dollar for Luka ..... horrible trade.

From what I heard, there were two reasons for that trade and that the crap return was by design.

One, they don't believe in Luka long term, he supposedly doesn't take care of his body or really give two shiits about the game,

The other is that the new owner wants to move the team to Las Vegas and she can't do that fresh off a finals appearance and the city having very strong support for the team, filling the arena nightly and the leagues longest sell out streak.
How to end that support is to suck .... and that's just what's gonna happen and in the mean time the owner saves that $350m Luka would demand.
Before this injury, Kyrie probably would have come off the books declining his player option that he very likely plays out that option now.

AD & Klay will keep their salary above the minimum the next 3 years ....

And the kicker, with revenue sharing, the Mavs and their owner won't lose a dime.

Makes more sense that KD would prefer playing with OKC or MIN to HOU. Shai + OKC bigs allow Durant a homecoming without having to do heavy lifting. Same in MIN with Ant + Gobert, much less work on defense for him. Rockets require 1000% effort on defense, not sure this appeals to older vets.

Rockets best KD scenario is to help facilitate trade to MIN where HOU gets Naz Reid in return.

The word on the street is the ownership prefers to move the team to Vegas. And tearing it down could help that happen down the line. Not sure how true, but there's talk about it.

Clearly the league needs some kind of enforcement mechanism to stop crap like this from going on. You can't just trust natural incentives and the good will of evil billionaires. If it can happen to the Mavs it can happen to any fanbase.

Considering Booker's next extension could be worth $70m per season, I think it's safe to say he's out of the picture. Also given Jalen's rapid improvement under Udoka, it would be ridiculous to not expect him to keep improving for another season or two. Would we just be slightly accelerating the timeline of one position at the price of 4 picks? That's not the same as acquiring a star on top of everything.

At this point spending 4 picks to upgrade from Green to Booker is a bad move. It's exactly the kind of move that can set a rebuild back - we will regret not having those 4 picks when we see Booker doesn't impact winning all that much. You didn't hear me rejecting that Booker is the better player when the gap was wide and I thought he was going to make $40-50m.

At this price and in this phase of development though, GTFOH.

I really hope Durant forces a trade to us, making the price worthwhile. 2 picks and a starter should be plenty. Doesn't end there though - he's an expiring contract, so what kind of extension are we willing to accept? I don't want to give him the max for more than 1 extra year. I'd happily give him 3-4 years on a reasonable declining contract but I don't think Durant messes with discounts.

I would not give up 2 picks and a starter for KD. My max price would be 1 of their picks back, take it or leave it. It's far too risky to give up even two for a 37-year-old who could literally end up being worse than Dillon Brooks next season, or have a career-ending injury at any time now. The track record for players his age is not promising, and he's already looking like a defensive liability these days.

    Other than that, I agree.

Making the play-in for PHX won't neccessarily take the pick out of the lottery.

POR is chasing PHX down pretty hard, and has an easier run home - might be that they are the team who benefits from Kyrie's injury?

I am sure the NBA is excited about leaving the 4th largest metro. This never made sense to me but people are crazy.
