European leaders have rallied behind Volodymyr Zelensky after Trump's furious exchange
with the Ukrainian president in the White House.

The leaders of Germany, France, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands were among those who posted social media messages backing Ukraine -
with Zelensky responding directly to each one to thank them for their support.

As a flurry of supportive messages for Ukraine were posted by European leaders following the row - along with posts from the prime ministers of Canada,
Australia and New Zealand - Zelensky replied to each one: "Thank you for your support."

French President Emmanuel Macron posted: "There is an aggressor: Russia. There is a victim: Ukraine. We were right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago - and to keep doing so."

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said the Netherlands supports Ukraine "now more than ever", adding: "We want a lasting peace and an end to the war of aggression started by Russia. For Ukraine and its people, and for Europe."

Germany's outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote that "no one wants peace more than the citizens of Ukraine", with his replacement-in-waiting Friedrich Merz adding that "we stand with Ukraine" and "we must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war".

Germany's foreign minister Annalena Baerbock said the "unspeakable" row resembled a "bad dream" and "underlined that a new age of infamy has begun".

She said she would "wholeheartedly push" for measures that could help Ukraine "withstand Russia's aggression even if the US withdraws support, so that it can achieve a just peace and not a capitulation".

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said: "Ukraine, Spain stands with you," while his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk wrote: "Dear [Zelensky], dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada "will continue to stand with Ukraine and Ukrainians in achieving a just and lasting peace".

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted that his country had "proudly supported the brave people of Ukraine in their struggle to defend their sovereignty against the brutality of Russian aggression and in support of international law".

European Union chiefs Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen assured Zelensky in a joint statement that he was "never alone".

"We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace," they said.

Trump is Russia's biggest asset right now. Putin has charmed Trump into believing they won't take advantage of his absolute stupidity. All it took was a bit of feeding his narcissism, and making him believe they respected his intelligence.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...foreign-policy-pivot-largely-coincides-vision

The Kremlin said on Sunday that the dramatic pivot in the foreign policy of the US “largely” coincides with its own vision, with Donald Trump described as having “common sense”.

When we pulled out of Afghanistan - I read about why it was a strategic advantage. Let the Taliban deal with ISIS. Whatever.

Still waiting to hear what the strategic advantage is of siding with a state controlled oligarch that is BFFs with China+Iran's BFF is. I'm willing to listen too. Make me feel better.

Not sending money? Great. Ambushing someone and clearly SIDING with Russia? What the ****? Talked to a MAGA boomer today that said he feels crazy now. Honestly. Never thought I'd see folks from that crowd break with my own eyes.

European leaders ‘doubling down’ on backing Zelensky after Trump blowup

Rattled European leaders on Sunday said they were “doubling down” on supporting Ukraine and boosting military aid following the televised Oval Office blowup
between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The embattled Zelensky was greeted with cheers outside 10 Downing Street and a warm hug from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer when he arrived late Saturday for
an emergency summit of European leaders. The pair embraced again at the start of the session Sunday, which Starmer described as a “once-in-a-generation moment”
for European security, and they sat side-by-side during the talks.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer rallied his European counterparts Sunday to shore up
their borders and throw their full weight behind Ukraine
    ,
as he announced outlines of a plan to counter Russia’s invasion

“Every nation must contribute to that in the best way that it can, bringing different capabilities and support to the table, but all taking responsibility to act,
all stepping up their own share of the burden," he said.

Starmer’s exhortation to 18 fellow leaders that they need to do the heavy lifting for their own security comes two days after U.S. backing of Ukraine appeared in jeopardy

at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and said he wasn’t grateful enough for America’s support.

On this I am confused, I saw the statement and was wondering what the heavy lifting is?
    Money?
    Weapons?
    Boots on the ground?

When I think of heavy lifting my mind always goes back to Magnus Ver Magnusson
Although he is from Iceland not part of the EU

    according to the AP reporting,

Starmer said he had worked with France and Ukraine on a plan to end the war and that the group of leaders — mostly from Europe — had agreed on four things.

    1. keep aid flowing to Kyiv and maintain economic pressure on Russia to strengthen Ukraine's hand;
    2. make sure Ukraine is at the bargaining table and
    3. any peace deal must ensure its sovereignty and security; and
    4. continue to arm Ukraine to deter future invasion.

That's the first factual somewhat long format video I've ever seen on TikTok.

I'm wondering how MAGA folks can't see any of this as anything but Trump being a bribed and indebted Russian pawn, to use and abuse to get what they want until the day he dies. It makes all that Hunter Biden stuff seem like nothing in the grand scheme of Trump's decades of Russian oligarch money and bribes, and love for Putin.

Do you think that all the investigations into Trump simply failed to uncover the evidence that supports your Russian bribe/pawn theory? Tell us why we should believe you. Because it sounds so stupid that it makes you look unhinged.

    GOOD DAY

It’s not that difficult. The right wing on America admires Putin and craves an autocratic regime that can similarly run America in the vision they desire. Putin, and Trump are their heroes because half of America is pro autocracy.

Look at our history. It’s not that hard to see. We fought a civil war because half of the country wanted something different back then that was nothing close to a free democracy but rewarded brutality, and corruption from the elites in charge.

This is just who half of this country is.
