It's like getting over your head because you are paying your bills with credit. At some point, you can't get credit and the bills are still coming due. And we have some big bills coming up.
Understand, but you can do this for a decade or theoretically forever. When the bills come due and you have 2-5 rings it will be worth sucking for 3-4 years, tearing it down and rebuilding.
This is the gambler's ALL IN mentality. I prefer the MAXIMIZE OPPORTUNITIES model through sustained success approach. I suspect the one that works best is the less popular one at any moment.
If all in means you can do this for 10 years and win 2-5 SB's then for all means count me in as all in. Particularly since it's been proven that it only 3-4 years to rebuild, then count me as all in. All it costs is for ownership to provide more money up front in the form of signing bonuses every year. Are the McNair's willing to pay the price for a championship? Because teams like the Eagles owners have set the bar as far as how they're going to structure contracts and they're doing exactly this. If you want to win championships over the next 5 years then do what the Eagles are doing. If not then be prepared to have a team that can be a nice team but not a true championship contender. The reason I used this 5 year window in the future is because the Eagles/Lurie/Roseman have been operating this way for 5 years since Chip Kelly was fired and have 2 SB wins to show for operating this way. Give me the past 5 Eagles years with a promise of 5 more years like this even if after 10 years the Texans will have to go through a rebuild, which even if they dont operate like the Eagles do most likely they wiill have to go through a rebuild anyways. Whether the Texans are a top NFL franchise or not will really come down to ownership. A 10 year window isn't really a gamblers all in mentality.
Good trade for Washington until Samuels xomplains about Terry getting all the touches... I'll give it till wk 10
This is the guy that I would give up 4-115 for. (Estimated) for Mayer. Great blocker with a great set of hands. Was productive in his rookie season.
It should be an eventful week ahead with roster moves in preparation for legal tampering. plus 5 Rockets games between now and the 10th.
