They track secondary assists, jalen averages 0.5 a game. The leader is booker at 1.4, lebron/curry/trae/hali/ant/cade are the next ones in that stat. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/passing?dir=D&sort=SECONDARY_AST
Thanks. I counted all the guards who have played more than 30 mpg. The 0.5 group ranked 42nd out of 55. I also checked the potential assists ranking. Jalen is at 6.2, ranked 43rd out of 55 among guards who played at least 30 mpg. If those numbers are indicative of his playmaking performance, he is at around the 25 percentile among high usage guards. Jalen needs to do better, much better, at playmaking. Claiming hockey assists or blaming teammates not making shots doesn't match with facts. I know I'll probably be called a Jater by saying this.
There's things it can show and things it can't. His absolute destruction of the G league, and his shooting numbers while down there indicated that he shouldn't be there and that he can knock down shots if given some true opportunity. Ime doesnt want that to happen, so he's not going to get any real opportunity here and he doesn't want Sheppard to continue showing what he can do with opportunity, so he won't be going back down to the G league either.
Being good in the g league does not mean you'll be good in the nba. Being bad in the g league does mean you will suck in the nba.
Right. But as I said, there are also things it can show, like 3 point shooting. If you are struggling to shoot from 3 then go hit 40% from 3 on over 12 attempts per game, it shows that the issue isn't that you can't shoot.
Any criticism of Jalen is unacceptable. It doesn't matter if you say positive things about him or like his performance over the last 30 games. It only matters that you are hater for criticising him.
You mean like how Tyty Washington scored 53 pts? All it shows is Reed isnt at NBA level. Hopefully he is by next year.
Nah its not shooting 40% in GLeague is diff from shooting 40% in the NBA. You can be too good for GLeague and still be a scrub in the NBA. Looking at GLeague nos and then saying its fair to blame other things for Reed's performance is fair? Being an open shooter in the GLeague is diff from being an open shooter in the NBA. You yourself tried to argue Castle and Sheppard are being guarded differently but then you think its fair to compare Reed's shooting in Gleague vs NBA? Nothing Bobby has ever said has been fair dude is ready to say anything to make Sheppard look good, like when he tried to argue one game weighs more than the entire season average.
If you struggling to shoot from 3 in the NBA and then go hit 40% from 3 in the GLeague, it means you are struggling to shoot IN THE NBA.
Hmm you are right, sorry about that. You are just the one saying Dillon Brooks is a better shooter than Steph Curry because Stephon Castle has a higher 3 pt percentage than Reed Sheppard.
You said better % = better shooter, i just gave you an example of it to see if you apply it only to people you despise or to everyone.
I apply to people with the same role as shooters. The only reason you are being passive aggressive is because you are a Reed stan but dont want to man up and admit it. As for better % = better shooter thats a general rule most people follow. Do you deny that? Why do people say Curry is the best shooter ever? Dont you think it has something to do with him being one of the best career shooting percentages at high volume of all time? Only Reed stans think shooting percentages have nothing to do with good shooters and thats cuz Reed is shooting 27% in the NBA. Remind me what people were saying when Reed was shooting 50% in college though? Like are you gonna deny that was one of the major reasons people thought he was a good 3 pt shooter? Even Bobby is using Reed's 40% in gLeague to argue Reed is a good shooter but ok shooting percentage only have to work in favor of Reed otherwise it doesnt apply. Oh yeah shooting percentage has nothing to do with being a good shooter are you saying Dillon Brooks is better than Steph Curry??? Thats basically your tactic and honestly I find it disingenuous esp when you said "fair" to Bobby's argument. Ok we can use Reed's 40% in Gleague to say he is a good shooter but we can't use his 27% in NBA to say he is a bad shooter in the NBA otherwise Dillon Brooks is better than Steph Curry. And you def arent a Reed stan you just go on Reed defense every time and agree to all the bad takes defending Reed. Its all a coincidence. I dont despise any player I especially dont despise Reed Sheppard we spent a top 3 pick on him I want him to be a superstar to so we make bank on our pick. Unfortunately he isnt playing well and I have to call that out esp when delusional people make it out like the only reason he isnt seeing play is because Ime Udoka hates him.
I had never heard of reed till the pre draft stuff so idk what they said about him in college. Last college game i watched was like 2013? Whenever embiid played. Curry is 13th all time in % btw, not like he’s first or 2nd or anything. Reed has take literally like 100 attempts though, it’s a meaningless sample size. I don’t share bobby’s view that reed would be a good player with more minutes though, even if he played 30 mpg he would still suck. Maybe he wouldn’t be Jabari bad cause holy crap but he wouldn’t sniff being a top 300 player, kinda like jalen and Jabari who were utter horror shows as rookies. The experience still helps though which is why i wish he played more.
Reed is a lot worse than Jalen and Jabari because he isnt athletic like Jalen and he isnt tall like Jabari. Theres no value playing him if he isnt shooting well. Its not because Udoka hates him or doesnt want him to succeed its just that shooting 27% from 3 and 31% FG is not acceptable unless you are a defensive savant like Mcdaniels. He will need to work on his game in the summer and maybe next year he can be good enough to meaningful PT. Nobody is saying he cant improve.
If the 27% is locked and that’s what he will always be than i agree, he shouldn’t be in the league. Jabari was an F on defense and F- on offense as a rookie, one of the worst players i’ve ever seen. Jalen was probably the single most damaging player his rookie year. You don’t appreciate how horrendous almost all rookies are.
Your Jabari as a rookie narrative is exaggerated. He was 30% from 3, averaged 7 rebounds and 1 1/2 stocks per game at age 19. He had multiple 20 point games on decent efficiency a 27, 24, 24, 30 point games. He was the victim of unrealistic expectations from an immature fan base. He showed great promise and continues to improve each year and is still only 21 years old. I hope Sheppard becomes a decent player starting next year, but comparing their rookie years is night and day in favor of Jabari.
