Whether you are on board or not, it's happening. My bet is that Guillorme or Rodgers make the team. Rodgers would be the almost everyday starter. Guillirme would likely platoon with Dubon. Whitcomb has a shot if he outperforms both AND neither has a good spring. I think Guillorme is the current leader, but they would love Rodgers to take it.
Brown in the most polite way possible acknowledged to the public that he thinks Whitcombs infield glove is trash. I can only imagine what he actually thinks, I doubt there's any plan for him that has Whitcomb in the infield with any regularity.
I heard that comment from Brown when it happened. After that, Shay was brought up and played 14g at 3b, 4g at 2b, and never set foot in the outfield. When Spring Training started, Joe Espada said that Whitcomb would play all 4 infield positions and never mentioned the outfield. It's early, but so far he has only played 3b this spring. Whitcomb has yet to set foot in the outfield as a major leaguer. I think it's time to start discounting Brown's comments.
Brown says a lot of ****. He clearly doesn’t always say things he actually believes. One off-hand comment of “his future is probably in the outfield” doesn’t mean much. For one thing, Brown has continued to allow his coaches to play Whitcomb primarily in the infield since he made that comment.
Lol it’s WAY past time to discount his comments Dude may end up a great GM but anyone who listens to his public comments and believes them ain’t paying attention
