Nah its a you dont have a clue conversation. Imagine trying to argue one game weighs more than the entire season performance.

I prefer Amen at pg than PF. I am ok resigning FVV to a smaller deal and have him transition as the eventual pg backup after next year.

Amen is a bigger menace guarding guards and wings rather PF and C. He is also only 6'7 he cant provide the paint protection Jabari does at PF.

I thought about that also, but that means JG is really the PG …Brooks shooting so well you can’t sit him .. and we switch so much look how often FVV or Thompson end up on bigs anyway lol

I’m over the fact that FVV isn’t a paint threat and that’s what we really need… and he’s awful on the break - Trae solves all those issues and Ime can hopefully coach up his D (watch we end up with Lemelo)

Amen is averaging 5 ast the last 5 games as a pg. He will be fine with more experience he is only 21 and pg at NBA level takes some time to learn.

Let me preface this by saying I was against Reed at 3, while wanting Clingan.
My concerns were getting his shot off and getting torched on D.

At the time, I felt like the Rockets made a "safe" pick... nice floor, and still do.
He's not going to be a bust.

Reed needs time..he's a rhythm player. The kid needs to adjust to the speed of the NBA game, and is best with the ball in his hands...not off ball. I'm not concerned about his shot in the least. It'll come around.
Whether he gets enough PT for us or blossoms for another team after being dealt remains to be seen. I'm still seeing a top sixth man kinda player, MAYBE more...certainly not Mark Price.

I disagree that we were gunning for the playoffs last year - that's revisionists history to me. There was clearly hope to improve with a new coach and adding some vet players but I think it's a bit of stretch to say the team was directly aiming for the playoff contention coming off a 22 win year after adding castoffs Fred, Dillon, and Amen(who most would agree was an unknown coming out of OTE - would his skill set translate or was it just a super athlete playing against kids?). The subtext of Amen's minutes last year were that we let talent work through it while expectations are low and Amen struggled MIGHTILY his first few months. I remember wondering if that dude knew how to dribble the ball at the time. Jalen and Sengun got extended minutes that way the two years prior.

...when you are a bad team(or recently bad in this case), you don't necessarily need to earn your minutes in the same way because you are a bad team so expectations are low and there is a willingness to sacrifice wins to speed up development. Steph Castle gets minutes because their starting PG is going to be 40 in a few months and there isn't another PG on that roster aside from combo guard Fox(who mostly would slide to the 2 in overlapping minutes) - they NEED to develop a younger PG fast so Castle gets minutes.

Reed's situation is different because he walked into a .500 club who were trending positive in the back half of last season and so expectations were higher this year....and frankly Fred and Holiday are just vastly superior PGs at this point. That's no shade to Reed - he was a SHOOTING GUARD last year so he had a lot to learn this year about both adjusting to the talent jump but also learning the hardest position in the NBA...but it's hard to justify giving Reed minutes to work through it and sacrificing wins when he is more likely to be a solid starter or situational player at some point than he is to be an All star or a HOFer. It was unrealistic to ever think Reed was going to walk in and earn his minutes on a competitive team - frankly no player in this draft was going to walk in and be an upgrade over what we already have on this roster.

Clingen is a STIFF - just watching him play he is just a big tall hunk of meat, no skills at all, I doubt he ever develops much more he is just so stiff.

Last season team vs this season team are very different in terms of expectations + development opportunities. Top 5 in West this season vs 1st year coach with 2 new vets still learning young roster.

Jabari was also top 3 pick but was an automatic starter + allowed the longest leash in a really poor rook season where he was literally outplayed by another rook (Tari). Reed never was automatic starter, received long leash + he is learning PG position at NBA level, a position he's never played at any level. Reed is also learning his teammates + his new very impatient + demanding coach with very limited opportunities, in high value games.

he's a delusional poster. He cares more about being right than anything else. He was hyping up Reed all summer long. He will never admit he's wrong despite tons of evidence contrary.

Yeah, I never got the Clingan hype either. Zach Edey seems like a similar player but with more touch…but both of those guys seem like poor fits in a modern pace and space/positional flexibility world but maybe the times are changing?

You have to be trolling. You can’t really be this stupid. So you understand context matters when it comes to Curry vs. Brook’s shooting %. But context doesn’t matter when it comes to Reed vs. Castle’s shooting % when the guy you were quoting literally talked about how differently they are guarded. Okay Jeremy Lin.

Even putting aside a lot what is wrong with this, so Castle is the better shooter today but if Castle goes 1-5 from 3 Saturday in his game and Reed goes 1-3 on Saturday in garbage time minutes whatever shooting or other workouts Reed did between last night and Saturday will have made him a better shooter than Castle?

I like this deal. While Young is not a good defender, he is really good at making good passes. And overall his impact is largely underrated. This trade will greatly benefit our offense.

If you have a better way to determine who is the better shooter between Castle and Sheppard other than who is shooting better let's hear it.

If somebody asks you who is the better shooter between Kobe and Steph what do you do? Or does stats not apply anymore because its Reed Sheppard?

You are the dumbass here Reed Sheppard is assisted on 89% of his 3s while Stephon Castle is assisted on 78% of his 3. Dillon Brooks is assisted on 98% of his 3 Steph Curry is assisted on 68% of his 3s. See the pattern? Or is it too complicated for you?

Context matters but just cuz some Reed truther is claiming Sheppard and Castle are "differently guarded" doesnt make it true. Maybe if you actually show stats that show they are differently guarded it would be a different story instead of you calling me a troll for not believing some rando making claims on CF.

    Okay, Jeremy Lin?

Here you go see Castle shooting 3 at 1:03? Is Porzingis contesting his shot??? And you are asking if I'm stupid? Dunning Kruger in effect.

Not sure if this is feigned or real ignorance but with both guys at basically a functional push percentage wise for the season and neither with all that many career attempts, especially Reed, it's pretty reasonable to look at:

-Castle in college was 26% from 3 and 75% from the line
-Reed in college was 52% from 3 and 85% from the line
-Castle is 72.9% from the line in the NBA
-Between G league and NBA Reed is 20 of 21 from the line
-Reed hit 15 of 37 3pt attempts in the G League

Beyond that, from what I've seen of both Reed and Castle (obviously less of Castle) Reed's attempts are more tightly contested on the whole, defenders guard him closer at the line, and even though both guys have some bad misses Reed tends to have more misses that look good and rim out. I'm sure Synergy or wherever has stats on who is more open for their 3s and how closely they are guarded at the line off ball but we shouldn't even have to get to that honestly. If I could pick Reed or Castle to hit an open 3 for me to win a million dollars I'd go Reed all day without a second thought. I think it would be incredibly foolish for anyone to pick Castle in that scenario.

I don’t know if he’s a bust yet but I want to see him in a JJ Redick role rather than playing pg. Run him around screens and set him up to get him in rhythm. I don’t think he has the skill or confidence right now to beat an NBA defender off the dribble.

Good point. When I said we were gunning for the playoffs, I meant after we arrived at the end of December with a .500 record and it started to look like we had a shot. And Amen struggled early, but he played better every month after a shaky January.

My point was that Reed himself controls whether or not he impresses Ime enough in limited minutes to earn more.

I have hope that the kid will find his footing and become at least a serviceable PG for us. But anyone thinking he's only being held back by the whims of a mean ol' coach is simply delusional.

Oh yeah? What if the 3 pt line is being guarded by an NBA level defender? My money is on Castle hitting his 3 first and I think it would be incredibly foolish to pick Reed in that scenario.

The reality is there are many ways to check who is the best shooter. Using the 3 pt % is one of the accepted ways to check, unless you are a Reedster and Reed looks bad so now you need to do a deep dive and statistical study.

Which is why we all agree that brooks is a better shooter than curry, and all those curry fanatics are just morons.
