Interesting read but unlikely ... "Nothing is for certain and that includes Doncic remaining in Los Angeles long term. Some think the Rockets could be a good fit for Luka should he decide to test free agent waters in 2026." https://fansided.com/houston-rockets-news-fred-vanvleet-staying-luka-doncic-return-texas-cody-zeller
Convince him he wants to come back to Texas and then sort out the details after that! It's a no brainer to pursue him, and any of our young guys are worth sacrificing to get him. Even a consolidation trade.
He has a Player Option. Luka Doncic and Alperen Sengun With Jalen Green Scoring, Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith as his Wings. Team is Set Up for Luka Doncic to the Rockets. 25 year old joining 22 years and younger Rockets.
I thought this would have been a possibility down the line when he was still on the Mavs, I think the probability has increased. As someone who has residences in LA and Houston, I can see LA not being a premier destination anymore for a lot of guys. In the modern NBA belief in the team being competitive is a priority, then the destination tends to be secondary. Don't think Luka cares about nightlife, but I will say that LA nightlife is pretty much non existent now, it is very different from 15 years ago. Housing and safety are an issue too, there are not many safe and private residences in the LA area, you almost have to go to OC like Kobe did, Kawhi chooses to stay in San Diego for the same reasons. People in LA just dont leave celebs alone, if Luka wants to grab a beer or smoke some Hooka and be relatively unbothered, LA is not for him.
The Rockets need to start recruiting right now behind the scenes. The LeBron Fan Media, The High Media Attention and blaming Luka Doncic when they lose and blame him.
Asked this question in the Dish/Luka thread but can we even create cap space to sign him? Not a cap expert. I suppose we could always move large contracts out since our most our players have positive value. But still, could we on relatively short notice if the winds blow that direction?
Dorian Finney Smith will make him stay a Faker......don't belive in those hot takes, they need people to watch their takes. Only thing would be income tax but they have far better brands than Memorial Hermann. Windy has been running rampant lately, I still believe in Shams.
The food in Houston is good, and tormenting the Mavs from Houston would be enticing im sure. But Ime would ask him to play D. Luka willingly leaving LA for Houston sounds unrealistic. Then again Dallas trading Luka was unrealistic.
