Even as an extremely biased fan of the Rockets and of Reed, it's impossible for me not to admit that Castle is having a far better rookie season. Yes, he has had more opportunity but he's also done more with his opportunities than Reed has, despite me also disliking that Reed has a seemingly short leash, it's not like Reed has set the world on fire when he's had more playing time (or in garbage time).

One season does not a career make, so I do have faith that Reed will end up the better player out of him and Castle, but I can see a world where that doesn't happen as well.

Reed will someday average over 20 points per game. That’s a guarantee! Now whether that’s in the G-League, Europe, or the NBA nobody knows???

I don't know how anyone can conclude that Reed will have a better career than Castle after seeing both of them play this year, but ok.

He has great form, it's crazy that he can't hit a shot. Maybe his vision is bad?! Every time he shoots I expect it to go, it just rarely ever does. I think this season is a mulligan and he needs a good offseason to rebuild himself. The talent and the effort are there. He seems like a good teammate. Hopefully it works out for him.

Let me ask you this? Based ipon their play this far, who do you think should get minutes? Holiday or Reed?

Also, if we're trying to get Booker this off-season, Reed might be part of the trade package...

Aaron Holiday brings nothing to the table, in the manner Reed Sheppard has been used, he brings nothing to the table so far.

Aaron Holiday is likely out of the league in a few years, Reed Sheppard is just getting started.

Based on that, Sheppard deserves the minutes over Holiday

I don't recall you saying Jalen was bad when he was bad.

Thing is Castle has gotten to play through struggles he wouldn't have gotten to play through here. Last night he went 1-10. Since the All-Star break his minutes have been more erratic and he's 0-9 from 3. Back in December he was 37% from the field and 20% from 3 for the month. I'd definitely take Castle over Reed in a redraft right at this moment, but if he had been drafted here he almost certainly wouldn't be getting regular minutes and we and others probably wouldn't be nearly as high on him. The other part of this that's difficult to gauge is how Reed would be playing if he had been drafted to a team like the Wizards and pretty much assured of 20+ minutes a game to play through struggles and potentially find some rhythm with his shot.

Castle has a chance to be extremely good but he's not an Amen-level freak so his upside is going to depend in part on how well he can shoot. I'd bet on the upside but "he'll be really good if he can develop his shot" has been the case for a lot of players and it's not a given that he'll get there.

they are completely different prospects. Castle is a tall guard that can play-make, defend and pressure the rim. Reed is a small guard that has to learn how to defend stronger bigger players, run the point, and shoot from nba 3-pt range. Castle was always going to have an advantage in his rookie yr and he was a lot more nba ready than Reed. I actually had Castle #1 on my board because his defense and playmaking and size were the most sure to translate to the nba. But I had Reed #2. I’ll admit I got excited with his success in summer league but I’m not shocked he needs more time to adjust.

Castle certainly looks like a better prospect, but that doesn’t mean Reed won’t turn out to be a really good player as well. I think a fairer comparison would best be done next offseason or in year 3.

I never said I was logical…I want Reed to end up being an all-star!

If we offered Sheppard for Castle right now, the Spurs would jump on it.

I disagree that Holiday don't bring anything to the table. I think he's been more productive than Reed has at any point this yr.

And I think that's why there is so much discord, because we as fans can't agree on the obvious.

I honestly don't know if Reed will be a NBA Player or not but as of now, Holiday is out playing him.

Sorry, but Castle is trash on both sides of the ball, don't confuse volume with quality.

If you're referring to JG's rookie season. He showed flashes, so we knew there was something there.....we haven't seen anything from Reed at the NBA level

I haven't watched the Spurs, other than when they played the Rockets, however I have family in S.A and they said Castle is coming on. They like him.

Im like Ime on Reed, I haven't seen anything different.
