FVV is an incredibly impactful defensive player despite his size

Ehh there's only one Chip in the world and they got him and he's no HC.

I love our staff I just think it's missing an offensive expert. They're excellent at everything else. Ivey has been up for more HC gigs than Chip, has major success as international HC.

We just need an inverse Bzdelik. Or to steal MDA as consultant since the Pelicans are tanking. But Tilman made that impossible.

I am worried about Mike D'Antoni is still Angry about being let go by Tillman, the contract extension didn't happen by Tillman Ferttita.

Is Mike D'Antoni still bitter with Tillman and can Tillman Ferttita go after Mike D'Antoni and reconcile for a Assistant Coach role.

Reed Sheppard, Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson can really benefit from Mike D'Antoni System.

    Steve Nash - 2x MVP

Mike D'Antoni wanted to draft Stephen Curry on the Knicks

    Jeremy Lin - Linsanity

    James Harden - 5 MVP Seasons - 1 MVP

Reed Sheppard is Waiting for a Coach Mike D'Antoni To Unlock his Full Potential

Oh the chances are 0%, that ship has sailed. MDA, Morey and Harden all lied within months of each other to get out as quickly as possible from under Tilman.

We have to look for someone else. Wanted Jordi but he got hired as a HC now. I would look into the Warriors and Nuggets coaching staffs as well as Mike Brown (Warriors experience, ran a great offense in SAC, good friends with Ime).

Yes. You always have to be careful when analyzing 5 men lineups because smaller minutes can lead to absurd results. However, if you really want to dig into the numbers, here are the positive NetRTG lineueps who have played at least 50 minutes together:

    upload_2025-2-24_7-40-37.png

The first one is an obvious anomaly - a 30 NetRTG is unsustainable. The other three are interesting, though. Bari obviously makes a pretty massive difference in our DefRTG.

MDA is a one trick pony he can only do his magic if he has a Harden or Nash level savant at pg. Maybe you forgot his Lakers and NYC stints lol.

IMO the skills development is the most important thing they generate a lot of open looks from 3 and the opponents play zone to neutralize Sengun and co. Just nobody hits open 3s consistently apart from Jalen Green.

It should be obvious the defensive rating went from 2 to 4 when he got injured lol.

I've criticized Stone for having trouble finding diamonds in the rough. If you want to refer back to Morey's days, these would be players like Chuck Hayes and Patrick Beverley. If even a couple of players that the Rocket tried out worked, whether it be Nix or Mathews or KPJ, or any of our 1st rounds in the 20s like TyTy or Garuba, it would really alleviate some of the depth issues. But the roster is what it is, and our #3 pick looking not ready for the NBA, there's not much a coach can do unless he's simply willing to lose more games. Which coaches will never try to do due to how incentives work for coaches.

    Reed Sheppard is the One.

Same mold as Steve Nash, Stephen Curry, Goran Dragic, Jeremy Lin

James Harden is a Different Category of MVP Dominance.

Fred is useful on defense but this is the second season in a row where the Rockets defense has decayed as the season goes on and other teams increase their offensive efficiency.

I think concentrating on defense is hard for 82 games, but it's probably easier to do straight out of training camp when everybody is healthy and rested and especially when other teams are still tryign to figure out their rotations and offenses.

I think Fred is a defensive savant and a superior PG. We looked amazing in January and defeated most of the league's best teams with FVV available. Without him, we're losing to teams who are trying to lose. At minimum, I think he's clearly one of our 3 best players along with Alpi and Amen. EPM actually has Fred as our best player.

He helps organize our inexperienced team on both offense and defense. He helps keep turnovers down. He is our defensive leader and remains one of the league's best defensive point guards. Our offense mostly looks professional when he plays. It looks otherwise when he's not on the court.

I agree with you though that I'd like to see him play off the ball for much of the game on offense from now on. I think giving Jalen and Amen opportunities to initiate the offense is best for our long-term future.

Seriously though, I think Fred is one of the 30 best players in the NBA and he is instrumental to our success.

I think our best guys are playing a lot of minutes and it's tough to play elite defense and hustle for every board when you play 38-42 minutes per game. Especially when we have so many back-to-backs. Even the NBA's greatest athlete, Amen Thompson, can't be his best playing that many minutes.

We really needed another competent rotation guy at the deadline. Especially considering that Tari is sitting on back-to-backs and Ime has gotten tired of the Cam Whitmore experience. Cam Johnson, Deandre Hunter or Lonzo Ball all would have really helped us.

If you don't believe in Reed Sheppard something is wrong with you.

yeah, it looks like the defense has simply just fallen off

1st we said it was because of Jabari being out, then Fred

Kings shot 51% from the field tonight, and that was without Sabonis who blew up his hamstring barely a minute into the game

I thought the whole team bought into Udoka's defensive and intensive M.O. How did it just fall apart like that?

The roster issue isn't due to guys not working out. There has been a lack of urgency from the front offense to balance the roster out. It's been obvious for a few years that we need better guard play. We didn't address it last season, during the summer or at the trade deadline. That has to be on Stone. I know we drafted Reed but once it was obvious that he wasn't ready a chip vet pg should have been acquired in-season. There were deals to be made that would not have compromised our future assets in any way.
