Jalen Green is top 15 in transition. Rockets are middle of the pack in transition frequency as a team but that's not on Jalen.

    FVV/Sengun/Thompson has a higher rating (116.8) than Sengun/Thompson/Green (114.8) and also has 300+ minutes (489). It's net rating is also 9.2 vs 1.8.

The first one is against bench units more often. Because when Fred was healthy, Amen was coming off the bench for most of the games in that line up.

Rockets lost the REB battle which has been critical to success.

Jalen needs to get back to hitting his free throws at an elite clip. Other than that, I like what I've seen from him the past two games. Seems like he has his legs under him again, and FVV being out for extended periods of time will be helpful to Jalen developing more as an on-ball threat--even if it looks ugly at times. The silver lining behind all these shitty losses, I guess...

The team could not defend during the 6 game losing streak and it was not getting much better now.

Also it seems like Jalen, Alpi, and Jabari (plus Amen sometimes) are the only guys we have that willingly pass the ball ahead on a fast break. the amount of times that I see DB or Holiday or Tari bungle a transition play makes me want to cry and call my mom. I hate that we have so many fast break threats but we fail to convert so often on them. Shoot, even KJ Martin used to get the ball up the floor quick, no reason why some of our guys can't do it.

oops wrong thread but I guess this applies here as well..?

Yeah wasn't expecting them to be deadly. We have some all-nba-terrible transition players by PPP:

    Jabari
    Whitmore
    Sengun

These guys are dragging us down in transition efficiency. We don't need Jabari and Sengun to be aces in transition, we just need safe play from them and we're not getting that. Whitmore only god knows why he would be so bad in transition with all that power and athleticism, it should be easy.

Amen and Green are annihilating teams though and if you think about the other team's experience, it's kind of like:

Every single shot you miss against our excellent defense results in the most athletic duo in the NBA coming into your paint like a thunderbolt. Any team that doesn't give up on offensive rebounds will suffer. So in a circular way, this is actually daring the other team to go all-in on offensive rebounding. It's a trap, because that's when Green/Amen/Tari carve you up.

Easy points I love it. We really need it. I think if we're being fair, most of the rotation doesn't have much experience and transition is something that tends to improve for most players so we can expect the others to start understanding their roles and decision making around this.

Jalen with B2B great games priming up for the month of March.

People love to hate on Jalen but other than Amen who has consistently big games on this team besides him? I love Sengun but he misses far too much for a dude who cant shoot 3s.

It wasn't a typo. He's the best player on the team and was playing like the best player in the NBA earlier this season

Green has been shooting .39 from 3 for the last 30 games. If he settles into being around a .38 volume 3 point shooter, not only does this raise his ceiling, but also, and perhaps more significantly, it raises his floor. A part of me has always worried Green is a bit of a "boom or bust" prospect, basically if he doesn't develop into "the guy," he may not be very effective. However, if he's an efficient offball volume shooter, along with his other physical traits, then, at worst, he'll be a top 5 or so shooting guard who can fit into any system.
