Do you consider overachievement as getting a direct playoffs spot instead of a play-in, I assume? The West conference is harsh, and losing games like this can do the difference between ending in #6 (overachievement) to ending at #7 (achieving what most fan base believed starting this season, not an over and not an underachievement). Yes, b2b are hard, also not having Fred and Tari. I would accept such excuse in December maybe, but now after the all star break it’s the money time. The team had a huge win yesterday, and just threw their prize money to the trash.
We have arguably the worst bench in the league while having the worst backup PG and C rotation in the league. You’re telling me that this team didn’t need to make a move or moves? These are obvious holes that cost us games which are holes that could have been plugged in without making a major deal.
We have lost to a lot of teams that are bad and they are all young teams. I have a theory that since our team is so young and just not a good half court team other young teams give us issues since...if we play the Lakers or Nuggets or something, we can literally just run them out of the gym. We can't do that against the Nets or the Jazz or the Hornets or Blazers because they are young teams too. I think FVV helps a bit with this because he's the only guy that knows how to effectively play half court ball even if it is just average at best its a lot better than leaving it up to Amen or Jalen Green right now. I mean that doesn't spell well for the playoffs should we get there but I always felt like this team was 2nd round at best and likely just a first round team especially if we get matched up against the Warriors or something...that would not end well for us.
They didn't ruin the win from yesterday, that's still a win, it actually counts more since it tied the series against Minny. The overachivement is making the playoffs, since it wasn't a prediction most outside of houston were making. The goal has always been this year getting playoff experience. They do that, they have succeeded.
What are the moves though? They tried to get Ben Simmons which actually would have helped with having a back up PG and having a backup quasi big but he chose the clippers? Who should they have gotten?
Beating people through effort isn't an actual recipe for winning. It demands too much over the course of 82, and it's useless in the postseason when everybody is playing hard consistently. One of the reasons I wanted the team to let it ride was so they got the full experience of trying to win this way. I would rather sacrifice some success if that means we don't go into the off-season with pie in the sky dreams about this groups potential. This team needs more offensive skill so that games are easier. We depend far...far too much on offensive rebounds and out efforting opponents.
I agree with part of that. I however do not like the EFFORT we showed tonight and in some other games. The goodness is that you CAN control the effort you expend, the BAD news is that once you lapse into accepting playing with low effort, it is easy to repeat it.We are in a funk...FVV wreturn would help but he's not really the answer unless EFFORT is improved. JMO.
Brogdon Robert Williams Etc suns got Nick Richards for a bunch of fake picks.Lakers got DFS for DLo and second rounder. Can we be fr? But we have a GM who has zero activity unless he’s obligated like the draft.
Agree with you that tying the Mini series was indeed important, more than winning the Jazz. But we possibly won’t have any playoff experience if we need to participate in the play-in to get there. Losing games like this puts our top-6 spot at an unnecessary risk.
Brogdon wasn't traded. Williams was said that the Blazers wanted to keep him. How do we know it was worth trading for them? Maybe they wanted Whitmore or Reed? Suns got Richard for Okogie who is not a bad player. Dlo can be gotten for trash because he's not that good, I'm not sure if that's an upgrade over even Holiday, you're talking about someone that jacks up shots, low effort, and plays no defense. I'd rather play Reed and Holiday. I do not argue that a move for a backup PG or big would not have helped this team I just do not think it will be the difference between us making the playoffs or not. I don't think Nick Richards is what will make this team sink or float. There is nothing wrong with keeping your assets, even if its just 2nd round picks and what you might see as trade filler, sometimes that stuff can make the difference when it comes to bigger moves. Also, if Stone's strength is just in the draft, that's fine by me, that means the team will continually to get better and will be able to control their cap than a team who just improves by making trades.
oh here we go Silas let the players run rampant now Ime is to hard on them. So we need a new coach now? I don’t think so I think we need players that want to work and not be coddled
I mean we will see. I did say losing this game was bad, I know the b2b was tough and all but the Jazz are pure garbage. I think sometimes though we forget that the teams under us are often under us for a reason. I don't think those teams are more consistent than us. They'll lose games too and Rockets have shown they can beat these teams as well. Also, a lot of these teams will play each other, like Dallas plays the Warriors tomorrow. OKC plays Minny. Memphis plays Cleveland. I mean this is the wild west, it's just how it's going to be. This loss sucks though, can't sugar coat it.
We also have arguably the worst "star" player of the top 4 contenders (in either conference) There is a lot of overachieving going on. It's just frustrating that we get in positions to win games and blow it by missing simple layup, or committing simple turnovers, or just holding the ball on offence too long.
It's quite obvious you have no idea what I'm talking about in my post, the fact you think I'm referencing Udoka making them play hard is as hilarious as it is embarrassing for you. I've not seen as many self owns as bas as this one.
I didn’t mention getting DLO. It’s why I said DFS was gotten for DLo. I know DLO is trash, that’s exactly my point. Brogdon wasn’t traded, it doesn’t mean he couldn’t be traded. It just means there was zero interest from contending teams which makes sense cause most of them don’t need a backup guard like we do. No one said Stone’s strength is drafting. I said he only shows up when it’s draft time.
