Yeah, Amen, Brooks, and Tari just are not ball stoppers like they used to be. Not sure what that is about, could be the condensed schedule is affecting them, not sure, but that was our defense relying on those three dogs to gum things up.

My post is just reality. The overwhelming majority of this board had the goal as being a play-in team. They are 5th right now.

The odds makers BEFORE the season had this team OUT of the playoffs. That's the reality of where we are at right now. They are overachieving right now. That's the fact. Any other reaction is just an overreaction emotional one. Sorry.

Overall the season has been a success but the last third of the season could very well force this team dropping to Play In levels.....

so nope, not everything is good and shiny in Rocketland.

Deciding to stand put and not make any major trades is one side but surely does not help injuries.

For Tari it's definitely his knee. He's not moving laterally as he used to. For Amen it's increased offensive usage and minutes. For Brooks, wear and tear of a older veteran.

Exactly. Overachieving during the first half of the season and playing like a lottery team around mid season is probably the goal of every great front office. I wouldn't be surprised if there would still be fans who would be fine with missing out on playoff runs in the next 10 years

This is just me speaking of course.....What seriously concerned me was what I saw the last game before the All Star break....the EFFORT was nonexistent....we had players that QUIT...plain and simple...some that noticeably didn't cross midcourt on posssession changes...multiple times. If you'll quit once, you'll quit again. And taht's concerning.

You do realize that this team is fully on pace to being a play in team which makes us in danger of being a lottery team? So if we miss the playoffs, it would be a disappointment right? You're making a case based on the current standings when we're talking about the play. This team overachieving is the exact reason why you make deals. It's right there in the word. You wait until the ship sinks to make changes?

Any good front office that calls this season a success is just set up for mediocrity all throughout. A front office that demands excellence from day one is a good front office

Anything can happen, its pointless to try and predict the future, an injury can change the playoffs on ANY night, as we just saw with the Spurs.

Right now they are overachieving. That they split this b2b is also not a surprise, but it is better at least that they beat Minny instead of it going the other way around at the very least.

I like them but a bench rotation of Uncle Jeff, Uncle Holiday, Uncle Landale, Tate, a slightly injured Steven Adams.....

Not going anywhere in the Postseason.

No sane Playoff contender has this lineup of borderline players.

This is the same fanbase that dubbed our 7 young core players as a "core 7" lmao. There are so many people in this fanbase that really need to wake up and start putting pressure on this team. Like I said, if I was Stone, I'd be napping every trade deadline and offseason too if I had a fanbase this emotionally attached to mediocre assets just because they're homegrown.

The flip side to that is: what changes could we as fans possibly make? Unless we work for the Rockets or have connections on the team, our level of impact is literally close to zero. I agree with you 10000% on wanting to be more competitive and not settling, but I have no problem with anybody being patient, because honestly being patient is the only thing we CAN do, other than setting fire to somebody's house or something.

Just thinking out loud here. If teams in the NBA are publicly traded, we would probably see much more urgency with our front office given that our stock price is probably suffering a huge dip right now

I'm not going to predict the future, because injuries happen, things happen. I mean the last time people thought this team was dead in the water they went on a winning streak that put them 2nd.

Every team has rough stretches in the season, the actual champs have gone through one as well, we played them when they were having a rough stretch and beat them. It happens. Yes, they could fall out of the playoffs but the probabilities are that they are making the playoffs with like a 60% of being 3rd or 4th. I'll go with that until something changes.

As for deals, again, what deal? Hypothetical deals don't count. I can't criticize a GM for rumored deals that might have been on the table and just making a move to make a move can also destroy franchises.

Stone is an incompetent GM on trade.

Definitely have overachieved....we are headed the wrong way though. There is no real excuse for losing to Utah.We just lost to a team with 13 wins...though it was B2B. We also lost 2 consecutive games to the Nets when they had won like 16 games or so.
