    Putting in D&D because I know where this conversation will go.

    When I sold law enforcement technology, the auto theft taskforce was our main customer. I don’t remember him but imagine I was in a few meetings with this waste of human life.

    Police unions don't stick up for police captains as they are often political hires. And if you are in a city that is blue, its a more liberal political hire and cops hate liberals. So this dude is cooked which is great and all but let us not pretend the swift justice you will see here mirror what most officers that do heinous things experience.


    Edit: Got confused with Capital and Chief. I don't think captains are political appointees. They work up the ranks so union could still back him.

    Correct. Lieutenants and captains (or majors in some departments) must take exams, have x number of years of service, have education requirements, etc. Chiefs and assistant chiefs are appointed.

    Question: We made Hate crimes special because their motivations are special. We felt the need to punish more
    to make it more of a deterent.
    Agree with that or not . . . .it was the motivation for the laws

    That Said
    I think we need to have an extra punishment for those who abuse their positions of authority
    People put in the position of public trust
    Seriously . . . Doing Crime as a cop or person of authority .. . . is just so much worse
    than some in the public
