Recorded at the Vulcan Gas Company in Austin in 1968. Saw Johnny playing with Tommy Shannon and Uncle John Turner several times at Love Street on Allen's Landing during the late 60's. Bonnie being awesome! Mother Earth relaxing in the country in 1969. The fellow playing guitar is John "Toad" Andrews, for the last 20+ years owner of Austin Ceiling Fans on West 6th here in Austin. I have several John's fans in my house.
She does have the Janis thing going on. It works for some songs, but seems out of place for other songs.
I am used to seeing Acuff being rather Traditional and in this video he loosens up quite a bit (for him). Being around Boxcar Willie is likely the reason why Acuff was a different person for the night.
Very Janis. She's good. If you ever see the "Almost Patsy Cline Band" around, my cousin's ex-wife is the "Almost Patsy" part of it, she's really good too. Oops...Was just reminded that she retired and they are done.
Listen to the jingle, the rumble, and the roar.... Thanks! My grandparents loved that song (various versions) and I remember hearing it in their car/truck many'a times
Tuesday's Gone is the best original song by LS. Call Me the Breeze is the best cover song by LS. I stand by these judgements.
