Gotta love the analysis. Sengun missed bunnies and threw the ball away late in the game…dude gonna be bbq chicken in the playoffs.
Alperen's struggle with his touch comes from his summer training. He lost hist muscle memory. It is a temp thing it will come.
Not sure how that would make him miss layups though. He did actually make some weird tough shots tonight.
Ime took the Euro out of his game and tried to make him this 2-way/defensive center. The footwork, the passing, the inside touch, gone. Give the old Sengun back. (Yes, worse defense and all) Whoever went to work with him and whatever they worked on, throw it all in the trash. (Also, his guy Tiago Splitter left)
I really like how aggressive Alperen was tonight. He needs to keep that energy and keep taking those same shots. Not terribly worried about the misses or the turnovers. That stuff will get cleaned up over time. STAY AGGRESSIVE.
He was not bad, but he missed his opportunity to have a great 40 point game. Partially because of the refs but if he made those in and out bunnies he would try more with confidence and it would be a monster game.
He has no lift this year. I think it's his back. He also is just throwing the ball up on those bunnies instead of flicking his wrist.
Some of those bunnies just had weird rollouts. The guy seems snakebit. That being said still gave us a solid 24/13.
I was laughing my ass off in the game thread at the usual Senhaters getting all giddy about Sengun having a bad game, knowing that in the clutch the Rockets would be playing through Senhub for the win. The T-Pups had no answer but to hack Sengun as Sengun sent Naz to the bench and made Ant too tired to play offense or even talk trash anymore. Those refs were allowing major hacking and swallowed the whistle on about 4 of those 8 TOs that were straight up fouls. It's like the Senhaters are trying to will failure on the Turkish terminator and keep failing miserably and it's hilarious to watch them getting their panties in a bunch as the Rockets win playing through our all-star. The best part is that a so-called "really bad" Alpi game still gets you 24-13-2, with clutch game genes and straight up our best defensive center on the team. That being said, he does need to start hitting those bunnies he's been missing all season. Wish Ime would let him go back to being creative instead of stifling his creativity like JG did Yao. Shootout to Bari BTW, welcome back to our other front court board getter and spacer. Super role player is activated! Go Rockets and all our players. F the haters. #Winning.
I see the same thing. Back problems cause so many other things to go wrong because you tend to compensate for them. It messes with your movement. I can't help but wonder if that's what's happening with him.
i've been very vocal about wanting Sengun to be a pass-first player instead of the score-first mentality Ime has forced upon him... but maybe the staff looks at Sengun and his lack of 3 point shooting in that it is always going to be difficult for him to create passing looks like Jokic due to lack of spacing and gravity. thus he has to be a threat to score the ball to collapse the defense.
Interesting take. It was a bad game for him. Offensively, he was bad all night. 38.7% FG%, 47.2% TS%, 2 ast, 8 TO, 0.25 Ast/TO, 0 stl, 0 blk, 21 FGA.. The only thing that he did well was rebound. Clutch game genes? Ok, le'ts see. Last 5 minutes, with game within 5 pts: 4pts, 25% FG%, 0 Ast, 2 Reb, 0 stl, 0 blk, 1 PF . That's hardly clutch. Offensively, he was bad all night but he was even worse in the clutch.. As a team,we were bad offensively down the stretch. The only thing that saved us was that the Wolves were worse. Here's our team clutch stats in the last 5 minutes last night, game within 5: FG% 25%, Reb: 6, Ast: 0, TOV: 1, BLK: 0, 3pt% : 0% - If that's what Senhub gets us then it may be time to do something else. He sent Reid to the bench in the clutch? Reid had 1 foul the entire 4th quarter. Here's all 8 of Sengun's Turnovers. He had 2 moving screens, a travel and stepped out of bounds on another. Of the remaining 4, there's 2 more where he just threw the ball away. If you think that's "getting hacked", then the Rocket hack our opponents the entire game. https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=TOV&EndPeriod=0&EndRange=28800&GameID=0022400801&PlayerID=1630578&RangeType=0&Season=2024-25&SeasonType=Regular Season&StartPeriod=0&StartRange=0&TeamID=1610612745&flag=1&sct=plot§ion=game Defensively, we did what we always do. We try to hide Alpi on the worst offensive player on the opposing team to keep him from getting put in PnR.That's why he defended McDaniels and then Clark rather than Reid. Basically, down the stretch, he left his man and just roamed around and helped out. That's what Ime wants him to do, but that certainly doesn't make him our best defensive center or a good defender. In the 4th, Ant went 1-6 but Sengun was the closest defender on only 1 of those shots. He's a good player, not a great player. Refusing to acknowledge when he has a poor game just kills all your credibility.
Blaming Ime? Like it's Ime's responsibility to make open shots & play defense lol. Is anything Sengun's fault?
It’s not that people are arguing that he had a “good” game, or even refusing to acknowledge that it was a “bad” game for him. It’s annoying how you and your ilk ignore the good and focus exclusively on the bad. It’s not difficult to put together this type of analysis that barely acknowledges his 13 rebounds and ignores his +10 +/-. It’s also hilarious to see you bounce between stats and the “eye” test when it suits you — for instance, rather than bring up Sengun’s fantastic PIE or defensive metrics, you switch to the “eye test” because the numbers don’t support you. Whine all you want, but Sengun’s on off numbers show we are a far worse team without him. Oh, and you contradict yourself — if that’s a “bad” game for Sengun, then he’s more than a “good” player, because that’s not a “bad” game from just a “good” player.
I've continually said that he's a good player. Thats what he is.Do you disagree? Did my previous post not say that he rebounded well last night? +/- is a lineup stat, not an individual stat. I'm responding to a post that stated how he was clutch last night. That isn't true. I posted the stats. What eye test did I use? Posting video of his turnovers to prove that he wasn't getting hacked on them? Do you have a better way to disprove it? How am I contradicting myself? A good player can't score 24 points when they have a massive 41.7 usage rate in the game and take 21 shots? 24 points on 47.2% Ts and 2 assists with 8 turnovers is a bad game for anyone. On/off numbers are also lineup stats, not individual stats. So, lets stick to facts. What did I say that was factually incorrect?
Your entire analysis is dumb and self-contradictory. Can a “good” player put up those stats? Yes. But only a great, All Star caliber player can put those numbers and have dweebs like you call it a “bad” performance. Which it was, for Sengun — because Sengun is more than just a “good” player.
