Another lazy "We HaVe To BeCaUSe OF thE EcOnoMY"

Has the war in Ukraine collapsed our economy? Oh, that's right, it hasn't.

The conflict is in Europe's direct security interests and economic interests far more. They have a larger population than the United States and an equivalent sized economy.

Let them handle a war in Europe.

Like you ignoring the fact that for every world war we have ever had there have been thousands of other wars... that... didn't turn into world wars.

If Putin wants to fiddle around the edges of Russia idgaf and neither did you.

Where were you when Putin took Crimea under Barry O's watch? Where were you when he invaded Chechnya? Where were you when he invaded Georgia?

    Solution:
Let the Russians purchase the Donbas region, Russia can go the way of Trump and pay them for it.
Use the money to rebuild damaged cities.

I know it's oversimplification and so many have died, but this seems like the easiest way out for both sides.
I suspect both sides want this to end, but no one wants to lose face.
A deal like this might be the path until........ Well next time.

    Guess again.

The US before WW1 and WW2 wanted nothing to do with European affairs, just like you are doing now.

What were the costs of entering both wars after they were fully engaged. It cost the US more blood and gold.

If I understand your world view correctly, you do not GAF ... which is fine. Some of us do.

If we let Russia have its way with Ukraine, Russia will move onto the next victim, with which we may have NATO Article 5 obligations. I assume that Trump leaves NATO if this every becomes a likelihood ... seeing that the US of Trump is now a vassal state to Russia.

But Russia may not be ready to invade other countries until well after Trump leaves office. In that case, the next POTUS may decide to honor the NATO Article 5 obligations, which will put both of US blood and money at stake. We can keep Russia in check now without any blood and pennies on the dollar in the money.

If you do not see this, you are short sighted.

Oh did you suggest United States intervention to preempt a world war when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014? Georgia in 2008?

Just because world wars occurred in the past doesn't ipso facto mean every conflict will result in a world war.

There are THOUSANDS of examples of conflicts which didn't result in a world war.

I think there are plenty of serious threads . . . plus a handful of not-so-serious threads

Russia is a threat to you how RR? Some Russian tank is going to come rolling up your street soon is it?

You're just gobbling up propaganda which gives the MIC a reason to exist and scam $900 billion from the U.S. tax payer every year.

The U.S. cannot afford to play world policeman forever.

This country is $37 trillion dollars in debt and has a $2 trillion dollar budget deficit.

We pay $1 trillion in interest just to service that debt every year. That's like 20% of federal revenues... just to debt repayment and that share grows every year.

What happens when debt repayment is 50% of the federal budget? What happens to the programs you care about then?

That's the real threat to you RR.

I mean if this is true, doesn't Europe have to hold their ground and see what the bluff is? Pulling 20k troops but leaving 45k behind is different than pulling all troops..and even that bluff should probably be called? Otherwise, the same card gets played over and over...

    And be grateful about it!!!

Oh and by the way, Europe, you've got three weeks to sign off on the deal or Russia can have their way with you too!

I have concerns. The Slippery Slope type of thing
If you think Russia stops at Ukraine . . . I think you are wrong
I am ok with withdrawing from alot of places
If we gonna cut off Ukraine. . then Cut off Isreal too

    Yes and no.

Ukraine borders NATO countries: Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungry ... almost their entire Western border. Ukraine is different than Georgia..
