Trump is legally minimizing his tax burden. This is done by millions every year. It's called Tax Planning. Perhaps you've heard of companies like Deloitte, PWC, Ernst & Young? They can help you be in compliance with your taxes and pay exactly what is owed and no more. Of course, if you want to pay extra, you certainly can. https://www.irs.gov/payments

    This is not political but.
Doesn't everyone try to pay as little as possible come tax time.

That is not germane to any political party, business owner or, college student.
I have to pay every year. But if my accountant reduces that liability somewhat and legally, who am I to not take the lesser payment.

Sure. But I think the main point regarding Trump is that the tax system and rules favor the wealthy while there are less options to decrease your taxable income for middle class and/or small business owners

    Agreed.
My brother-in-Law makes close to 200k on his business but manages to show a break even every year.
Must be some serious deduction juggling going on. I make about half of that, and I get to pay on average about 5k a year between federal and STATE.
Governer Hochul wants my cash to build the Bills a new stadium.

everyone tries to pay as little as possible, but again trump bragged about how not paying anything in federal income taxes makes him "smart".

not sure why anyone would defend or make excuses for that or why traderjorge/bigtexxx/mojoman/conqueefstaor would straight up lie about him saying that.

do you think its a good look for the president to brag about how he is "smart" for not paying his fair share while the rest of us do?

It's in no way a good look, but those that have bought into his rhetoric will not have their opinions changed.
Folks are either ALL IN or ALL OUT on Trump, there is no middle.
I'm saying this a s person normally a bit more to the right, but I could not vote for him in good faith last year.
But my wife did get a write in vote for President from me last year. It's ok because I'm in NY. No Pub is going to win this state in a presidential election.
I voted serious on the down ballot. A nice mix of left and right.
Although most locals were running unopposed.

I would say they don't actually. We'd all be self employed and trying to explore loopholes if we did.

I do have clients who don't like to be aggressive and just happy to pay what they owe. I have others that want every little crazy scheme out there.

    Thanks for the info.
Interesting stuff. I just pay my fair share and move on. I do a lot of volunteer work but trying to formulate the deduction is a much fun as the Dipshits and moron's thread.

Lets see. Clinton ran the last budge surplus in American history. And then W Bush came in and started two 20 year wars fighting "terrorists" to enrich himself and his cronies in the military industrial complex at the cost of the American public. The same dumb asses who voted for that moron are now MAGA and are tearing down government to give it's power directly to oligarchs. It's even dumber and more corrupt than Bush's wars.

you appeared to be defending or at least making excuses for trump in your first response to me.

you, transman and traderjorge/bigtexxx/mojoman/conquistadork seem to have an issue with me pointing out that trump said not paying federal income taxes makes him "smart", the former even straight up lying despite the fact that its on video for all to see.

can you not understand that honest taxpayers might be put off by trump saying that he is "smart" for paying zero in federal income taxes while the rest of us pay our fair share? why would you try and defend that?

    I agreed with you.
Don't know what this response is.
I thought we were having an adult convo and then You group me in with the MAGA crowd.

My bad in trying to have an adult conversation with you.
Spew your anger at real MAGAS not someone you want to be a MAGA.

    All good though.
    Just don't understand your reply.

and as usual, i dont understand yours. i think youre being oversensitive and silly here.

i pointed out that trump said that not paying anything in federal income taxes makes him "smart" and your initial comment to me was "Doesn't everyone try to pay as little as possible come tax time". how is that not you defending and/or making excuses for him?

if you dont want to be grouped in with the MAGA crowd then maybe dont parrot their talking points. also, i wasnt grouping you in the the MAGA crowd. i was grouping you in with transman and tradertexxx for seemingly having more of an issue with me pointing out what trump said over the comments themselves.

I 100% agree with you that Trumps bragging about paying less is crappy and buffoonish.

    And I said that above.

Everyone tries to pay as little as possible.
    Both things can be true.
