if you could trade fvv for harden straight up this summer would you
a trade meaning we do not resign fred and we trade jalen for a little more cap space and a smaller contract to sign harden outright

assuming harden will be owed 120 to 150 million over 3 seasons and fvv if we kept him would be signed for 3 years at about half that amount

this thread has gotta be some sort of bait

James Harden isn’t getting 50 mil/yr…cut it out

nor is he getting 40 mil/yr for 3 years unless the final year is a TO

Yes we should replace Fred with Harden, and yes we should trade Jalen for a star.

Udoka doesn't want him and LAC won't trade him to us and he's happy being there and probably doesn't want to be traded.

Best chance at any kind of Harden reunion is a "last season before he retires" farewell tour in a few years.

i think neither are the solution long term.. we gotta figure out our backcourt taking into consideration the timeline for our young guys.

No. He's not a winning player, he's not a good locker room influence, and he did everything he could to hurt the franchise.

    Let him rot.

I think FVV has been the backbone of this team the past season, and a half, and a much better investment to the team that bringing back an aging Harden.

That being said, this Summer I do not think he's untouchable. .. or at least I hope the rest of the team is mature enough to allow that to be the case.

    ...

Only way I see a Harden trade making sense though is if the Rockets decided to go all in next year trading for Kawhi AND Harden to give the Clippers a chance to rebuild with draft picks if they wanted to jump start a rebuild, and give up on Kawhi.

FVV+Brooks+Reed+picks for Kawhi, and Harden could be an interesting push all your chips in move.... obviously hoping that Kawhi can stay healthy.

Right now I don't know if trading FVV for Harden straight up really makes much sense. You are probably making your younger stars take a step back by taking the ball out of their hands, and not really improving enough with Harden's talent at his age to make much of a difference. Kawhi would be the target if there is one on the Clippers roster, and that's a big risk given how the guy cannot stay on the court for longer than 2 minutes.

It's not really straight up if we also trade away Jalen to do it...

If the last 10 games haven’t shown what FVV brings to the team, I’m not sure what else would do it.

If it's straight up, I don't do it, if we throw in Jalen, I'm sold on it.

By the same token, if the years after Harden left (sans this year I guess) haven’t shown you what Harden brings to the team, I’m not sure what would.

Not to mention we see what he brings to the Clippers without Kawhi.

Top 5 defenses this season :

    1. OKC
    2. Orlando
    3. LAC(Harden leads their team in minutes played)
    4. Houston
    5. Boston

Ty and JVG must have asked him extra nicely this year. The ship has sailed, but not on building a great defense that features Harden playing extensive minutes.

No, that Harden contract would be an anchor around the Rockets neck.

I'd rather waive VanVleet and open up $40-something-million to use on free agents
or 2nd/3rd tier players (I doubt primary or first tier players will come here this summer).
