Declaring with absolute authority that economic calamity is right around the corner is part of the reason that we have Trump in the Whitehouse.

Not sure what exactly this is supposed to mean -

but I am very confident that removing a trillion $ from annual GDP and eliminating 1 million jobs overnight is absolutely a recessionary accelerant

Please feel free to explain how it's not, lol

It likely is - and I have never and never will vote for Donald Trump.

However, what does this exactly accomplish? The Democrats pump up the doom and gloom to such a degree that it is almost impossible for the actual outcome to be as bad as some are pumping it up to be.

You can laugh Sam - and you are a bright man, but how many times have you either been wrong or has the damage been so overhyped that when there is damage, it is discounted because the world didn't end?

At some point Democrats need to figure out the American people and more importantly, how to communicate with the American people - because right now they cannot.

It means that you can't even sell your fellow liberals on your baseless economic predictions.

It also means that deficit funding a trillion dollars a year worth of government waste is not good economic policy.

No, but Chipotle's burrito season could offer a viable off ramp for fired government employees! Demand for their [premium burritos] has remained healthy. Problem solved for those affected by DOGE cuts.

Unhinged is letting people that have not been vetted, that don't have oversight and have no understanding of government agencies and their roles -- have unfettered access to the largest secrets in the US government.

I am still waiting for this widespread fraud and corruption claimed by Musk and his programmers. So far the few examples in a massive sample size have been proven to be flat out lies by Musk.

It is very obvious what this is - especially when it comes to attacking employees claiming fraud and waste--- and nothing done about military spending.

Even Stephen Bannon was laughing at the fact that nothing has been found---- allowing that to happen, that is unhinged.

So you can snicker and post pictures of some pissed off woman from a decade ago --- but it just makes you stupid when you have the richest man in the world having unmonitored access to how the US government runs. That my friend - is ridiculous.

It has been known for decades how inefficient, unorganized, slow, wasteful, and superfluous every single government organization is...peeling back the curtain should not be controversial. This is OUR money after all. If you don't like the man in charge of doing it, or if you think he is unqualified to do, then fine. I'm ok with it and I am a proponent of people with non-political backgrounds (like Trump, Elon), coming in and tackling issues from a business perspective.

But starting an entire thread, based on one opinion article from an obviously biased source and claiming the worst recession of all time is on its way to all of us and we should all panic and change our investment strategy is, in fact, unhinged, and more than worthy of a triggered liberal woman meme.

Nook. Oh, boy. Et tu, Brute?

Sure, there's truth to what you say. The Democrats, for whatever reason, are poor communicators. And Biden was the worst.

Maybe the Democrats should have told the American people:

At the same time, watching Trump and unelected foreign-born, ketamine-snorting, wants-to-reach-trillionaire-status Elon Musk dismantle the federal government and throw people into unemployment with lies, all for their own entitlement and enrichment.....forest service personnel, fired; FAA personnel, fired; CIA and FBI personnel offered to fu** off, we no longer need your services.

What, are we supposed to believe all of this is going to turn out fine?

Ukraine about to be sold down the river so that Putin can march to Poland's border.

All this Canada bulls**t. All this Greenland bulls**t.

    Yeah, and we're being alarmists.

I think people on both sides of the aisle would be delighted at cutting back on waste and inefficiency. There may be some slight disagreement over what qualifies as waste. The real issue that I have is that this effort is headed by people with conflicts of interest and who profit directly from government contracts. Peeling back the curtain is great, but hiding and covering up oversight and trying to erase the signs of those conflicts of interest is even more problematic.

What do the democrats do? Point out the lack of oversight - point out what is actually happening....

Saying that there is a recession coming and that everyone needs to leave the country doesn't help the democrats at all.

We need to learn from our messaging mistakes.

if only you'd provide supporting data / links?

you can't because you're merely parroting someone else's convenient / baseless claim

Concerned about government inefficiencies and waste? No problem.

Having Elon Musk go into various government agencies with people that have not been vetted, and with no oversight having complete access to the inter-workings of these agencies and deciding on the spot who to fire and interviewing all of these people? That IS a problem and it is dangerous and reckless.

THAT is unhinged and stupid and shows a lack of security and discretion and the fact they are now being forced to hire some of these people back because no one else knows how to do some of the jobs shows a lack of knowledge needed to make these types of decisions.

I am FAR more concerned about that, than a lawyer starting a thread claiming a recession is coming --

I love how our alarm is to blame for what these fuc*ers are doing.

Everyone bought into Trump's salesman con job. And the rest? Even those who aren't professional trolls like SuraMadHops (whatever) and CrixTheUnmitigatedGall? "Well, you know, you guys are to blame, too."

Oh, well. Even supposed Trump hater Snoop went full Uncle Tom. TOMS for TRUMP. I guess they all come around.

Anyone care to show the math? Rough math is fine.

    Rough impact from

    Tariffs
    Spending reduction (and when)
    Federal layoffs (size, GDP impact)
    ...

    Okay my mistake, misread that.

Still, what is it then? Only families get to enjoy these benefits? or is it households? If its just families that get to enjoy these benefits then its still a 400+ billion cut in one month. If its households then its over 600 billion cut in a month. But, I also want to point out that you want to now argue semantics because facts get in the way. Tell me how putting so many people out of work will improve the economy and bring down the price of eggs? How about those tax cuts that are on the table, how will cutting our budget and income improve our debt situation.

    I am waiting.

Yeah I owned up to it as well. But, I still stand by my overall claims. I notice you ran from those like a scared little child. This is why I cant take you serious. You are a whiney little snowflake that makes claims, never backs them up with facts and then runs when things get tough. If that does not work you latch on to a single mistake and ignore the rest. Should we list all the times you have had reading comprehension problems on this message board? It may crash the server. At least I own up to it rather than always claim being right.

Snoop is an opportunist - opportunists will latch onto who will make them money.... that is why a lot of these people are latched onto Trump.

Also - it isn't a matter of blame, and that is part of the problem I am running into with some Democrats.... it is a matter at this point of what will solve the problem. Introspection as to why things are the way they are, and what can and cannot be controlled of changed going forward.

The person that has most closest echoed my view on it is Dan Carlin of all people.... he is getting a lot of push back from both sides, but I think he is right.
