There were plenty of warnings what a National Security risk Trump was. Military leaders and ex Republicans spoke out about it. Hundreds of them who worked with him and knew him. I simply don't see how you or anyone believed that Trump wasn't or isn't a much bigger threat to this country, and democracy. Not only is he a pathological lying con man, he's a man consumed with power and greed, just like the company he chooses to keep, the people he puts in positions of power, and the dictators and authoritarian leaders he cozies up to. Many just had lazy thinking, believed his propaganda and lies, just wouldn't vote for a woman, just wouldn't vote for a black woman, believed in far right mentality, were racist, and/or were too stupid to see what a fraud he was.

You see what's happening don't you? Surely you can't be that naive. It's much like Russia, or other corrupt and Authoritarian/Dictator ruled regimes, where the quest for more and more power, combined with greed, and narcissism causes leaders to do horrible things to people without blinking an eye. Human rights are what they decide they will be, and people are expendables in their quest for more and more and more power.

Russia has for a century now been ideologically opposed to democracies around the world and has been openly undermining such nations. So unless Trump turns this country into an autocracy (which I assure you no one besides a small minority is going to like relative to what we have now in terms of economic opportunity & legal protections sense) we're never going to align with Russia.
