The “give me Harden over FVV” takes are embarrassing

I do not have a problem with Harden proving me wrong or anything.....

 

Again, no argument who's the better player.

It's similar reason for me to prefer Booker over Durant if we were to trade with the Suns. There's no question Durant is currently the better player. But the timeline is important. You have to look at the window of these player's prime. We were/are rebuilding, not contending.

 

Harden is a Rockets legend.

 

Top 5 in West should be a team in contention right? But i agree that Rockets FO believe this team that was #2 right before trade deadline is more rebuilding than contending which befuddles + infuriates me to no end.

 

Not necessarily. I was surprised when I looked this up but the 5th seed has only made the finals twice and won 0 times.

Apparently 5th seeded teams are often just playoff fodder and not real contenders.

 

Maybe Lakers, Mavs + GSW did not get the memo? However Rockets were #2-#3 for most of time prior to trade deadline so contenders?

And last season, Rockets were play-in contenders + still made no moves at trade deadline or in offseason to improve. When is Stone held accountable for sitting on a mountain of assets year after year?

 

None of those teams are actually winning the championship though. Media likes to pretend there are all these contenders every year but really there are only 4 or 5. They're all getting exposed in the playoffs. I do think our team could've added a few bench guys over the deadline but it's not a huge deal.

 

We can agree to disagree on this topic but I appreciate the respectful and knowledgeable discourse.

 

He is the 2nd best rocket of all time in my opinion. If some team had knocked out the warriors like nuggets did sonics then I think he would have won a chip too

 

Harden is more adaptable by a long way. Even at his age. Fred has gone backwards this season. All his numbers are far down from last year. Only steals has he improved

FVV is great guy who has always defended harden in public interviews, but i think ime udoka bought into the harden hate by the espn/fs1 media of the world and went with fvv cause of his "leadership." Id argue harden is just as good of a leader but has anxiety in pressure moments. Still a great player

Man good thing we paid all that money to a 6' tall point guard with below average efficiency. When we could've had Rockets LEGEND James Harden, who scored 50 on a b2b, leading a bunch of role players to a win against a tough team.

Too bad because he would have been a perfect fit with this roster.

It's far from over.

The question is NOT who is the better player. That is easy. Harden has always been and will continue to be the better player.

The question IS which pg enables all the talent to develop into the next franchise player? 5 years from now, which Rocket is still carrying this team? THAT is the question.

As of now, the Rockets are 1.5 years into it and they are ahead of schedule. Even with Harden, nobody expected Houston to be contenders this season. So it's irrelevant who is "better."
