1. More offensive sets that involve cutting, Sengun as a hub a la Adelman’s big man philosophy and setting screens off the ball to get shooters open, happens way too little. 2. Nate Williams to play over Cam and even Tate when he’s out of control to show his stuff. 3. Amen attack when he’s initiating the offense and use that speed more. 4. Ime take responsibility for losses and no more pounding on lack of effort. 5. Jalen Green to show more consistency on his shot making.
this team needs an identity on the offensive end. every halfcourt possession our players are hesitant & indecisive on the perimeter because there's no direction, the coaching staff hasn't instructed them wtf to do. no plays just DHO's spammed to death hoping someone gets open or someone grabs an offensive rebound. meanwhile opposing teams are just blitzing and zoning to no end locking up our guys like taking candy from a baby. udoka is truly clueless this is milkhair part doux with the same postgame lack of accountability bs too smh.. "just play harder!"
Maybe just a seriousness and killer instinct from this group that takes winning personally. The past couple weeks this teams on and off court persona makes it seem as if they think they have made it now they can just coast. That’s immaturity mostly I know but still indicative of the type of personalities we have with our young supposed cornerstones we just invested big in. If you don’t catch my drift let me be clear… Jalen and Sengun need to get their butts in gear and stop playing tiddlywinks out there. Act like a freaking pro, and get to work.
our kids struggle to get an open shot constantly trying to drive the paint against a wall of defenders and end up relying on offensive rebounds just to put points on the board
1) Get FVV and Jabari back and send Dillon to the bench 2) Run the offense with multiple initiators instead of just PnR and FVV walking up the ball and dribbling the clock away. 3) Ime stop throwing his players under the bus. 4) Prioritize development over winning by playing Cam, Reed, and Williams more and running Amen as the initiator more than not in the half court.
Yes, that does speak to what I’m seeing when we run Princeton Point Series, or the NBA’s relatively new wrinkle of a Princeton-esque Horns (ie using a wing or guard opposite a passing big in the high post) generating tighter split action, than typical Point.
I want to see us play like an actual nba team when it comes to inbounding the ball. I want to see less ymca turnovers. I want to see an actual offense. I want to see Jalen play up to his potential. Ok I realize that last one is asking for too much.
I want to see heavy minutes for the young guys like Tate, Jeff Green, and Aaron Holiday. It's important we develop them even if the team record suffers.
I want to see Fred VanVleet playing again and watch the Rockets perform at the NBA's highest levels like we were prior to his injury. I hope people will finally acknowledge how important he is to this team even when his shooting isn't very efficient. I want to see efficient Jalen Green for the rest of the season. I want to see Jabari Smith hit 40 percent from 3 and play a lot of small-ball center. I want to see Sengun finish around the rim more consistently. I want to see him hit his free throws. I want Ime to play his starters less minutes. I want to win the NBA Championship.
I don't have the actual stats but I'm fairly confident that the Rockets must be one of the worst DHO teams in the entire league. STOP. PLAYING. DHO.
Whenever you think of that Amen Thompson inbound play, you can forget it.........by remembering the horrific defense that allowed Portland's Dame Lillard to stick a dagger in our hearts so many years back. Or all the s*** Stockton and Malone got away before heading out to a nice steak dinner after the game with the referees.* That'll put the inbound out of your mind. * If I had written "all those years ago," I would have evoked memories of the George Harrison song for those of us who are slightly youth-challenged.
FVV return but speeding up the pace Some true offensive sets - if we going to run Alpi and Amen together than try running the Triangle offense Healthy JG More Nate Williams over Tate and when Brooks is having a off night Double big lineup in spurts, save it for playoffs FVV JG Williams Brooks Bari - when teams go zone then Amen Cam Tari Bari Alpi to punish the paint
Same thing I've always wanted to see from this team. Growth from young players and no major injuries.
I may be a little biased on this, and it won't happen... I'd like to see FVV/Amen/Brooks/Tari or JSJ/ Sengun as the starting lineup when FVV is healthy. Tari or JSJ depends on the health of those 2. I think Tari is getting healthier and won't have B2B issues in playoffs. This is a much more defensive lineup than the ones with Green. I don't watch Green on defense exclusively, but I notice him as the guy not rotating/or late rotating a lot lately. You either have to score more than the other team or hold the other team to less points than you give up. Maybe I'm giving up too soon that the Rockets can outscore good teams with Green consistently. Maybe I'm putting too much faith that FVV and Amen can handle the perimeter playmaking enough that they can win ugly.
Just a return to the energy and healthy roster of the early parts of the season, that's all. Except with at least 50% more Amen Thompson. (Probably not literally 100% more like we've been getting lately... dude is running on fumes.)
