Zero chance the NBA would approve this. The plan is for Vegas to be one of the NBA expansion teams (Seattle probably is the other) with LeBron being part of the new ownership group and becoming the "managing" owner.
Honestly, with the Adelsons it could be any stupid reason and I’d believe it. But they are 100% behind this trade even if the GM is taking the fall for it. The Adelsons are not good nor reasonable people. Not to be trusted.

Still doesn't make sense. Doesn't explain ONLY working with the Lakers. Doesn't explain their absolutely abysmal attempts to explain why they did it. Doesn't explain their complete ignorance of how Mavs fans would react. Doesn't even make sense outside of that. Worried about Luka getting them a championship, when he'd put them on his back in 2 different playoffs? His conditioning was a concern, after he actually did dedicate himself to that? His injury potential? Yet they traded him for Street Clothes, who is even older? Apparently working on the theory that one gets much less injury prone as they get older? Does AD even check the boxes they list here? Not sure, but have never heard talk about his tremendous work ethic. The ONLY scenario that seems to explain all these things is that the trade was orchestrated by the NBA. Rating are down, the Lakers are a huge draw, but Lebron only there for another year or two. And all Houston fans know its not like the league doesn't do this.
