With the Mavs looking like the Titanic and possibly looking at missing the Play-In, I could see Kyrie seriously considering opt out and exploring his options.

When it comes to basketball fit and teams that could realistically sign Kyrie, it feels like Houston is the biggest threat to poach Kyrie.

The idea that the Rockets could get Kyrie for simply singing-and-trading FVV is incredibly appealing to me. We would still have our assets to pursue stars and Kyrie immediately solves our end of game issues. I also think it should not go unnoticed that the likelihood of Kyrie Brooklyn BS drops dramatically with a coach like Ime around.

I think I would sign Kyrie to a 3-year deal, I would pass on signing him to a 4-year deal

if the option is re-signing FVV like the rumor has been, or signing Kyrie to a 3 year deal, gimme Kyrie

we need a scorer and closer in the worst way

Kyrie is still elite and has calmed down with the crazy

The Sign-and-Trade would be something like FVV and Brooks for Kyrie. Assuming no other moves, our 9-man rotation next year would look something like the following

    Kyrie/Reed
    Jalen/Cam
    Amen/Tari or Cam
    Jabari/Tari
    Sengun/FA Center

That team is a borderline contender and still has all of their assets to play with for a bigger move

I don't think so because Fred VanVleet literally is a Playbook and Dillon Brooks is toughness needed.

Looking at how unorganized the team is on the floor. Fred VanVleet continuing Coaching from the Bench.

Rockets Players love Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.

Why would Dallas participate? They could find somebody else that would send them draft picks. Kyrie looks to me like he could play another 3 years at a high level. Lots of teams would want to get involved. We could make it happen, but we would have to trade at least 1 frp and maybe 2 to be the high bidder.

Kyrie and the team he chooses would have all the leverage considering hes a Free Agent in this scenario, not an all out trade. Houston could go to Dallas and go "either take this deal or some other team will and you lose Kyrie for nothing". Look at the Jimmy Butler/Philly exit

Looking at this more, I think the $$ would work if we picked up Landale and Holiday's option and sent FVV/Landale/Holiday out.

    Kyrie/Reed
    Jalen/Cam
    Amen/Brooks
    Jabari/Tari
    Sengun/FA Center

    That team is stacked

DEPENDS on the contract!! I can probably stomach a 3-4yr MAX contract, but I'm not sure he would sign for that length...

He is still an elite scorer and would definitely be an upgrade, BUT he will demand more than Fred on his next contract and he is now 32yrs old and has had an injury riddled career! He's had several knee surgeries, bulging disk problem, shoulder problem.... I don't think he's averaged over 60 games in the last 5-6 years. I don't think he'll become healthier and more reliable going forward...

My 2 cents on term on the contract for the Rockets

    1-Year: Not committed enough, Pass
    2-Years: Sign him 100%
3 Years: Still think I would sign him, but this is a legitimate debate
    4 Years: Pass

If you don’t think Kyrie isn’t at least a 2x upgrade over FVV you crazy

I’d rather sign Kyrie outright than trade Green + picks for a 30yr old Booker

Don't think anyone is/has/was debating that talent wise he would be an upgrade.

    1) It's a moot point. They're not trading him. Their whole thought process is they think they can win a championship with this group of players. They're stupid, but that's the direction they're taking and I don't see them going 180 on it.

    2) Kyrie makes no sense for us from a basketball perspective. Dude is about to be 33 years old, is already clearly declining as a player, and is not good enough to be the #1 option on a championship team. No way in hell do I want to be locked into a big contract for his waning years right as our guys are winding up to become true contenders. Nope.

    3) He's a f*cking nutcase and I don't want him on the Rockets. I prefer players that I'm happy to root for, thank you very much.

Regarding your point #1, he is very likely to be a FA this offseason, so this isnt just some normal trade speculation

Meh. I have a feeling the Mavs are going to throw big money at Kyrie, and I doubt they will agree to any sign and trade. They are locked into Kyrie-AD and wouldn't be able to justify letting Kyrie walk after the Luka trade.

Odds are he'll re-up with them, that's their entire plan. Even if he doesn't, I don't see why the Rockets would be his preferred team, nor why we would want to pursue him. He's too old and not good enough to be the last piece to win a championship. The front office has been very clear that they only want players they think will make a major impact--if we didn't trade for 27yo Fox, why would we trade for 33yo Kyrie?

Yeah, 33 year old Kyrie isn’t coming to play with kids.

I think both sides say no.
